Pens holding specially trained dolphins that protect the Black Sea naval fleet are also likely to have been lost

I'm sorry what

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

US Navy trains dolphins too. They act like guard dogs for our naval bases.

[–] ours 2 points 1 year ago

They also work with actual seals.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago (2 children)

There is now a pod of highly trained ex-military dolphins in the black sea with nothing to lose.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, If no one else can help…. and if you can find them. Maybe you can hire, The Ay-iiiiiii-e-eeeee-Team.

to hear the theme song sung by squeaks omg please make this happen

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I did enjoy the break in to dolphin squeaks. Fine work.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

This movie. Has to be made. 😱 And done so unapologetically that it's space gold on a canned sardine budget. Also, there must be a "flip 'er the bird" joke, built up to over the first two acts.

Dolphins are apparently better at detecting smaller things that are difficult to pick up with sonar like divers, so they are utilized as early warning systems.

It means the Kerch Bridge is defenseless, send in the HIMARS rafts!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We just call them LOWMARS then

"storm of the century". - third one this year

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

Yes but it did happen this century, which is all of the name really promises.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Competition is actually a good thing for consumers of storms

[–] [email protected] 43 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It emerged last week that Moscow and Beijing have discussed building an “underwater tunnel” connecting mainland Russia and occupied Crimea, amid mounting Russian fears that the Kerch Bridge, which has been successfully struck twice by Ukraine, remains vulnerable.

China still claims to be neutral here, guess this is just "civil engineering" then.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

Maybe Elon's Boring Company could help them out.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

To be fair, it’s a fairly normal civilian construction contract. As a capitalist, you go/do the things that make money. If that includes building bridges in an active war zone, it doesn’t matter as long as the bill gets footed.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

I suspect that China will insist on money down though, which Russia will never agree to (partly because they don't have it, but also partly because it goes against their political philosophy of always trying to hold all of the cards) so this probably isn't going to happen.

I really can't see China being prepared to take Russia's word for it that they'll get the correct compensation otherwise.

Let's hope those dolphins survive with their new found freedom.

[–] Geobloke 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Let's hope they don't have a grudge against humanity with that military training

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

Team up with the Orcas sinking yachts.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's OK if they have a grudge to the side that was training them in captivity.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Russia's mighty fleet, taken down by irritated dolphins.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Considering how many ships they have lost to a country without a navy. It's very possible.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I too would like to find my freedom via echolocation, but I've only so many toes to sacrifice to sturdy furniture before finding something else to do.

[–] paddirn 22 points 1 year ago

Huh, it’d be a shame if… something happened to a nice bridge like that.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago (4 children)

The Almighty:

Alright, Ukraine. Windows open. Send in the boats and blow this fucker.

exhales cigar smoke from a ginormous cuban

(My God smokes cigars, hates Russians, and hates bridges for some reason. He also looks like Dolph Lundgren)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Sounds at least as legit as any other deity.

Ezekiel saw the wheel, and it was pretty fuckin cool.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

along the missile's flank are the words: I must break you

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

He is Dolph Lundgren, and I would like to be ordained in His ministry. Please, send me the brochure.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As it's said: "Beauty is only a light switch away". It's the polonium in your coffee the morning after that you'd have to watch out for.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That motto only works if you also have no sense of smell. Or self-worrh, really.
