Pretty sure that’s a universal opinion.

I have one of these at home.

That makes me happy, those plushies are so cute! I showed the post pic to two people and both said "Ew," I think their cuteness detector is broken.

Looks like you found the first item for your Christmas wish list!

[–] ickplant 2 points 11 months ago

For sure, and I like the earrings, too. Really cool site in general, thanks for sharing!

I mean. They’re basically microscopic Flying Bison.

[–] ickplant 32 points 11 months ago

HOW have I not seen that before?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

With a body like a vacuum cleaner bag & face that looks like a jacuzzi jet, they’re about as adorable as they come!

[–] ickplant 10 points 11 months ago

That's a really spot-on description.

No you are not definitely the only one

Aw relevant username

[–] ickplant 2 points 11 months ago

There are dozens of us. Dozens!

[–] Zoboomafoo 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I like how they're wrapped in paper

[–] angrystego 13 points 11 months ago

That's probably an artefact of the electron microscopy preparation. Irl they're translucent and they're even cuter when they move: https://www.shutterstock.com/cs/video/clip-1039663166-tardigrade-high-quality-footage-video-water-bear

Looks like someone wearing a costume to disguise as a bacteria :D

[–] ickplant 16 points 11 months ago

Now I can't unsee it, remind me of those T-rex costumes.

i want a dog sized one as a domestic robot, and various tools can come from the torso bag as needed.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Put a hard hat on a star-nosed mole instead.. It may not be as useful as a robot, but it will look like it knows what it's doing.

Nightmare fuel tho

Not enough legs

[–] Zerlyna 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Nope. My neighbor is a tardigrade expert in fact. Retired Marine Biologist Professor.

[–] ickplant 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Do they have a bunch of tardigrades at home? Or marine life in general?

[–] Zerlyna 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Nope. They are retired and spend lots of vacation time in Cabo. Used to be avid scuba divers.

[–] ickplant 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It makes so much sense for a marine biologist to be an avid scuba diver. As a therapist, when i retire, I will go to Cabo, sit at a café, and people watch. That's the same thing, right?

[–] Zerlyna 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I’d say so! I’m pushing 50 and still not sure what I will be when I grow up so who knows what I will do if I ever retire lol.

[–] ickplant 2 points 11 months ago

You still have plenty of time to decide :)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Fucking hell, they are the most alien looking animals on the planet, they're amazing.

[–] ickplant 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I mean, I don't disagree, but also let me introduce you to Centurio senex. Also quite alien-looking!

[–] MilitantAtheist 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Looks like bat bukkakke porn, got any more?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] kamenlady 2 points 11 months ago

They attract each other with songs and raised facial flaps... What's porn compared to that?

Release the bats!

[–] ickplant 1 points 11 months ago

omg... you're not wrong.

[–] ThunderWhiskers 6 points 11 months ago

It's wild that the folds in their "skin" seem to have genuine creases even.

If I were a tardigrade I'd move out from home || Why live in the shrubbery when you could have a throne? || Pressure wouldn't squash me and fire couldn't burn. || These are the things that I never will learn. ||
