Califournia would be fine. The state has its problems but it's not a shit show like Florida

Suddenly 8 major ports in the country

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Probably great sailing in those bays.

If California were a country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world. Califournia would be insane.

Investors, seeing the 4 beautiful udders of Califournia:

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Imagine how many more houses you wouldn't be able to afford!

[–] Agent641 2 points 11 months ago

20th largest. Easy peasy.

If it were just created via simple copy-and-paste, Califournia would have a population of 159 million people, which would be just under half of the current population of the entire country.

If it remained all one state and were not split up, it would certainly turn into a case of the tail wagging the dog. Califournia would be able to split off into its own country with a population and economy rivaling that of the entire remaining 49 states.

If Califournia was a country, it would have the third highest GDP in the world, behind only the US and China.

If Flourida was a state, it would still only have a GDP about 10% higher than a single California

[–] NocturnalMorning 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

If california was it's own country, you'd have to remove California's gpd from the U.S. So I think it would be higher on the list.

[–] Ledivin 2 points 10 months ago

Nope, that was accounted for. California is the largest portion of US GDP by state, but it is still only ~15%. The smaller states really add up when there are so many

Take Oregon and Washington with you! The dream of Cascadia

[–] Diprount_Tomato 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

At least there's no Tenxas

I vote we turn Texas back into an inland sea. And I live there.

I love it when maps of the USA just replace Canada and Mexico with ocean XD

[–] Aliendelarge 3 points 11 months ago

We needed a lot of land for the additional Californias and Floridas. CA --> CA ya know.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

There is only 1 land that matters, everything else may as well be just ocean

[–] Moosely 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I love that Califournia looks like its moving fast because of the length of text on the map

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

Like it's winding up to slap Hawaii

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago (2 children)

So, in the former, we'd have a massive population increase, but also a massive increase in overall tech manufacturing and output. In the latter, we'd have way more old people, but four Disney Worlds.

Dare I say: Mar a Lago x 4

[–] [email protected] -1 points 11 months ago

Four Epcot food and drink festivals!

[–] Gradually_Adjusting 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Either would displace too much seawater and damage coastal developments across the globe

[–] superduperenigma 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah but look at all that NEW coastline just waiting to get developed to hell and back!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

1 Florida is too much

[–] wreckedcarzz 3 points 11 months ago

Would you have four penises? I'd have four penises.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago
