Ok, so here we go... Trump's new joint address to Congress.

Here's how to watch:

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/04/donald-trump-congress-speech-how-to-watch-024384

"Trump’s address to Congress will begin Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. The speech will be broadcast on major television networks and available to stream on certain websites, including POLITICO."

So 6 PM Pacific Time.

Worth noting that like Biden's address to Congress in 2021, this isn't TECHNICALLY a "State of the Union" address, although it has a lot of the trappings of a State of the Union.

Typically the first address from a new President to Congress isn't called a "State of the Union."

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/why-trumps-joint-remarks-to-congress-wont-be-a-state-of-the-union-address

"According to the American Presidency Project, the impacts of these first-year speeches should be considered to have the same heft as the State of the Union addresses that follow in subsequent years. And, just like the State of the Union address, the opposing party to the one that occupies the White House gives a brief speech in response, which, like the president’s remarks, is televised. This year’s will be delivered by Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan."

Anyone watch Sanders' response?

Gotdamn I love Bernie. You can see he really, like actually cares.

[–] Suavevillain 9 points 1 day ago

No substance to Trump's speech was just hating on Trans people and bragging about cutting government programs. If that speech didn't show you how unfit he is, I don't know what will at this point.

He shouldn't have been able to run for President again. MAGA is literally getting cucked this whole run for this admin and they can't bring themselves to admit it.

Seriously?

One one democrat (Al Green) stood up for truth tonight?

The rest of them sat like sacks of shit holding paddles, lol.

Fucking weak leadership who cares more about the decorum than the fight.

[–] Nightwingdragon 10 points 1 day ago

Well, from what little I've seen so far and my understanding, Hakeem Jeffries seems to be taking the "cower in the corner and take it like a little bitch" approach to government.

[–] sunbrrnslapper 5 points 1 day ago

I am furious with them for their lack of leadership and self awareness. The incompetence is shocking.

Pass. Not giving it any ratings and I will wait for the coherent summary without the faff. Besides, no matter what the jackass does, there's nothing I can immediately do in reaction to it.

[–] regrub 33 points 1 day ago

Hardly anything he says is credible anyways. Only look at what he does

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 1 points 23 hours ago

It was just a rally.

oh man. I am not looking forward to this but feel I have an obligation to watch. Appreciate you getting the thread going though.

[–] regrub 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'll pass on listening to the Cheeto Musolini speech. I'd rather preserve my sanity/time by reading the news afterwards instead of listening to him ramble.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

im prepping with vodka and I rarely drink.

[–] jordanlund 15 points 1 day ago

I'm tempted to just wait on the transcript, but so many of Trump's transcripts are whitewashed to make him seem more rational than he is.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 day ago

Looking forward to the stock market dropping like sack of shit tomorrow morning. You know it's gonna.

Jesus Christ. They are using his fucking mug shot for the thumbnail on ABC. Lmao.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So Al Green got booted from the room. Interesting.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

thanks for getting me the name.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Trump just loves praising himself. I couldn't finish watching his bs.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm tempted to watch but it'll probably be 90 minutes of him rambling.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

More than 120! I couldn't make it through 5. No idea how people can listen to him talk.

[–] kescusay 14 points 1 day ago

Nope. Not watching. I'd rather drag razor blades between my toes. Rub sandpaper on my tongue. Give myself paper cuts on my eyelids. Watch videos consisting entirely of nails on chalkboards.

[–] roofTophopper 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Anyone got bingo cards? I'm putting a Putin to visit White House on mine along with Andrew Tate gets a government position - maybe alongside Elona. There's also the McDonald's Hamderber becoming the National Food

Anyone got any others to fill out my card?

Outside of that, I got my bullshit meter ready. Trying to prep for the Thirty Days of the Best Achievements the world has ever seen and how he alone saved countries at war. Then Elona will talk about the billions of dollars saved while his kid wipes buggers on Trump's face.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

ugh. the democratic response is soooo weak. still at least she did say reagan rolling in his grave and said she does not want russian or chinas leadership. actually its getting better as I type this.

[–] MortUS 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I made a list of all the cuts Trump mentioned:

Million(s) Description
$45 International school scholarships (labeled DEI) - [International Relations]
$40 Some kind of international social services? - [International Relations]
$8 Promoting international LGBTQ+? Is this research funding or international relations? - [International Relations]
$60 Indigenous people in central america? Like, international relations? - [International Relations]
$8 Making mice transgender? Like, research? - [Research]
$32 Some kind of left wing propaganda operation in buldova? - [Spy Shit]
$10 Promoting male circumcision in MoseHamBeak? idk - [Weird] [International Relations]
$3.5 Consulting contract for fish monitoring? Like, research? - [Research]
$1.5 Voter confidence in Liberia? Like, trying to help them secure a democracy? - [International Relations]
$14 Social coheasion in Mahli? - [International Relations] [Spy Shit]
$59 Illegal alien hotels in New York. idk - [Yeah, Alright]
$42 Increase vegan local climate action innovation in Zambia? - [What?]
$14 Social and behavior changes in Ughanda? Is this more research funding and is it ethical? - [idk] [Research]
$47 Improving public procurement in Serbia? [Spy Shit]
$101 DEI contracts at the Department of Education? [American Investment Cuts]

(List of Cuts Mentioned by Trump)

$485 Million cut funds to international relations, research, spy shit, and whatever else. I guess the question is, what are they going to do with the 485 Million? Presumably the $22 Billion cut in American Human & Health Services (HHS) is going toward paying down the deficit, right?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Thats trumps golf budget for the next two years that he will spend at his own businesses. with ~3mio/trip thats 161 trips. with him golfing 30% of his days in office during his last term and him being on track to repeat that, this "golfing budget" will be used up in less than two years.

sorry americans, you got screwed for years to come for some racist orange to loot your contry dry to go golfing and funnel money into his own businesses.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

omg they are talking about how the first dem was resistant to being removed and truly his was not and they said two more were removed and that was not shown. serously folks this is masturbating over a bag of cashews.

[–] jordanlund 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

All the Dems should have left when the first was removed.
