Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them

This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected] or [email protected]

Don't remember the last time... I'll go check how dirty it is and give and update.
Edit : totally forgot to update, but it was surprisingly... Not that dirty? There's obvious smudging from fingers and all, but not that much real dirt. Apart from the back. Oh my fucking god. PTSD from what I've seen.
I need a remind me bot now...
Thanks for reminding me lol.
Y'all nasty.
I drive a vehicle that's old enough to be elected president in the US... it's been in my family for 20+ years, and I don't think any of us have washed the steering wheel, shift knobs, door handles, or window cranks.
LOL. Yeah, I'm right behind you...my daily driver is a '93 Civic...
I'm ashamed to say, despite it being touched, coughed and breathed on so often, nowhere near enough
I have a cover on mine.
Ditto
Yes I have found a microfiber cloth that works very good and easy, and I clean it every day now (only the glass)
Just bought a great CPO car a week ago, soβ¦ Iβve never cleaned it.
But in general, I use steering wheel covers that I change maybe once a year.
I donβt drive that much, only like once a week. My wife also drives it once a week (we share). In the winter, we often wear gloves. So it doesnβt get too grimey.
The subway here is how I commute to work or enjoy nights out. If itβs super late or Iβm lazy, an Uber will pick up the slack.
I just let the rain wash it every couple weeks.
Like once a month. Whenever I wash and hover my car, I also clean the area that Iβm touching.
I was not responding to the phone cleaning post, but I clean my watch and phone with disinfectant wipe everyday when I go to shower, so I have everything clean.
Clean my phone every time I take a shower. Never cleaned my steering wheel, but that's an external thing. A phone is a constant carry. Do you clean your door knobs?
Ooh, good one. It's rare, but it's happened...
#blech
You clearly meant #bleach :p
I started cleaning it when covid hit. After I sanitize my hands in the car I'll wipe my hands off around the wheel and my key since I usually forget until after I've gotten in and started the car up. I do it less often now, but every time I pump gas for sure.
