I hope we don't have vigilante violence. Death by hanging for treason sounds pretty good though.

At what point are you okay with vigilante justice? Like how hard does the justice system have to fail? Apparently, a convicted felon that attempted an insurrection, coming into power again and then appointing an illegal immigrant in charge of destroying our government social safety nets isn't enough yet. So, where is the line?

The beginning of vigilante justice opens the door for a lot of extra judicial punishment/violence that can very quickly devolve into chaos.

If the elite are focused on self preservation while the public attack them; police forces will be unavailable to protect the general public from itself.

By that I mean; criminals that are barely held back by the threat of punishment from the law will see the lack of enforcement as an opportunity. This puts the lives of average citizens in danger.

So; while vigilante justice is an option, it should be a last resort.

There are still paths through the legal system to explore. Congress still has significant power and some of the GOP are beginning to push back. It's not going to be easy; but it's still a possibility.

Plus; idk about you, but I'd rather not deal with a bunch a radicalized MAGAts seeking to avenge their fallen martyr. (particularly after showcasing vigilantism for them...)

My dude the police aren't there to "protect the general public from itself". The police are there to protect capital from the general public.

Vigilante justice is an individual taking justice into their own hands. But an organized resistance group is not vigilante justice. It is revolutionary action.

Luigi was a vigilante. But when half the country agrees with his actions he is no longer a vigilante when that half takes up arms to resist fascism.

We do not need more individual acts. We need organized acts. The US could learn from the successes and mistakes of groups like the IRA right now. That is "what is to be done".

Well, to avoid vigilante justice, I think we need everyone to fucking stand up and say "enough", instead of just going about their lives.

If we don't, the need for change will boil over into uncontrollable violence.

And that's not so much a prediction as it is a promise.

Having an authoritarian dictator opens the door to so, so much worse.

Isn't there going to chaos either way?

We're well past the point of needing vigilante justice but I still hope it doesn't come to that.

[–] FlexibleToast 5 points 4 days ago

We could see it coming a mile away. I was really hoping we would elect a Bernie Sanders type and avoid the bloody revolution, but I think we're doomed to the bloody revolution at this point.

Man I'd love to see a set of gallows on the whitehouse lawn; with that Orange Sack of Shit waving in the breeze along side his Nazi Handler.

Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.

It's not a question of who, just of when.

We will, eventually, when our children are offering sexual favors for food.
