the police aren't there to "protect the general public from itself". The police are there to protect capital from the general public.

Primary and secondary goals. If they have to put all their focus on protecting capital, they become unavailable to protect the public. Which is something they DO perform; even if poorly or disproportionately.

But an organized resistance group is not vigilante justice.

Then you're not arguing for vigilante justice, you're arguing for organized resistance....

This discussion is about how vigilante justice isn't the answer. (at least, yet).
