A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

I think most of the heat will escape through that large side opening.

That's just so the studio audience knows when to clap

[–] Glemek 41 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Innovative??? It's a fucking bivvy sac

[–] jewbacca117 11 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Aren't bivys rated for a lot colder? 22 is cold but it's not that cold

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 days ago (3 children)

It looks like -22F/-30C. The space between "as" and "22" is too large to be a single space.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago (4 children)

Seems a bit cold to have most of your face exposed, especially while you sleep.

[–] Cort 19 points 6 days ago

Gotta keep the humidity (from your breathing) low inside so you don't freeze.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

Here's the article link. Turns out there's a separate larger tent area for where your head it at, so it's not outside.

Gotta keep something cool. My ass would still get sweaty

[–] kn33 5 points 6 days ago

Gotta be able to breath

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago

There's also a URL in the picture, which says -22 if you visit it

[–] jewbacca117 3 points 6 days ago

I think you're right. -22 is more bivy sack range

[–] Glemek 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Bivvy sacs are just that style of shelter, you can put different sleeping pads and bags in them to get setups that will be comfortable at different temp ranges.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

Can it fit an air vent and fan?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago

Negative 22*

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago

Is this ~~loss~~ Saddam?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

Article link. Pretty sweet for cold weather camping. I didn't track down the product listing but stuff like this is usually damned expensive.

*edit: I got curious. Looks like $2,000 or so.

[–] recklessengagement 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

You can get sub-zero sleeping bags for a few bundred. Even bags that go way colder than this.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

Yep. But the cold as this will cost you north of $500.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Nah, it's too much, too complicated. What's the point of camping without a ragged milsurp mummy bag and a Ralph Wiggum vibe?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

If you go camping in this thing you'll start conspiracy theories that Saddam has been hiding ABOVE GROUND THIS WHOLE TIME!!! \(゜o゜;)/

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

How exactly do you get insude?

[–] hydroxycotton 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

It's basically a tiny tent that his a zipper down the middle. Seems kind of gimmicky but I'm not really a camping person so idk how practical this would be.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sorry but I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Clearly you're supposed to climb in through the giant hole in the side.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

This is my hole.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

I just noticed...Nuke made this for my retirement roast a while back and there's an Easter Egg.
