One of the problems I've always had with the left (I'm a queer-ass lefty) is they talk like a cover letter written by AI. They're treading carefully, trying to appeal to everyone, and sound like the soulless middle managers they are. The most iconic thing Kamela said, to me, is when she called the republicans weird.

I hope things like this become more common. I want to hear what people really think so I don't feel like I'm going crazy alone. Be more like Bernie. Hell. I would love it if Bernie dropped some fuck yous and bitch asses.

The most iconic thing Kamela said, to me, is when she called the republicans weird.

And that wasn't Kamala. That was Tim Walz. I mean, yes, she said it, but she got that messaging from Walz.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

...and then Kamala got advice from Nancy Pelosi and centrists to "tone down the 'weird' rhetoric" and focus on courting moderate Republicans, and her campaign fucking tanked. Couple that with the DNC not allowing a single Palestinian supporter to speak during the convention, and it was ruined for all of us. She had all the momentum of a bulldozer, initially, and swindled it by putting faith in crotchety, old, dinosaurs who refuse to entertain progressive ideas as they usher in a new tRump era of misery that may never end.

This is also how you get Gerry Connolly elected over AOC for leadership of the House Oversight Committee. Nancy Mace uses an anti-trans slur several times in a committee meeting, and Connolly whines "Here on the committee, a level of decorum requires us to try to avoid slurs" while his Republican colleague smirks at him. Fucking embarrassing.

But, hey, at least you didn't have somebody "young" and "inexperienced" like AOC in there. Who knows? She might've said something rude to Ms. Mace, and we couldn't have that! Think of the decorum!

[–] [email protected] 24 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I just wouldnt call those ghouls "left". They are center right as far as the rest of the world is concerned. Their job is to maintain the status quo and make sure rich people stay rich and poor people stay poor.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

The US democrats are 100% center right and saying center is maybe already a stretch

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

Yeah u right

[–] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago

100%. We need people like Mick Lynch

[–] Vinstaal0 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

People should really learn to understand that there is a lot more nuance to be had around politics. Having criticism on somebody doesn’t mean you sight up to “the other side”.

Thank you for sharing your criticism

A good friend compliments your outfit. A best friend says you're too old to be wearing tripp jeans.

If we don't want to be embarrassed about who we hang out with, we gotta be dicks sometimes.

"Do you think only calling out democrats when they use harsher language is effective journalism?"

Yes.

Elon Musk is EVIL. He is dumb, arrogant, a dick, and a bad parent, but a lot of people are those things. What sets him apart is he is EVIL. Evil has no place on MY planet. That's what you need to be telling yourself.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 6 days ago (2 children)

What does that even mean? Evil is a silly adjective tied to a bunch of mumbo jumbo religious rhetoric.

Use adult words: he's a narcissist and void of empathy. He is dangerous and a threat to America.

[–] pyre 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

evil is putting your desires before other people's needs or wellbeing. it's an important distinction and needs to be used regardless of religious context.

[–] Smokeydope 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

No, the word your looking for that fits the definition given is 'selfishness'. Just about every living organism on the planet instinctually puts themselves and their own continued survival as #1. Do you think all animals and plants and micro bacteria and viruses evil because living things compete for resources instead of sharing while singing cum-bai-yah in perfect harmony?

It sucks that people care about themselves more than others but that's not evil its a natural aspect of being an individual organism trying to navigate a harsh sometimes cruel world. Adknowledging that aspect of living things without retrofitting it into some definition morality is important to understanding reality.

You might be able to argued a true narcicist psychopath who cares about nothing but themselves and couldn't care less if everyone else dies as long as their comfort is maintained is evil but that's a nuanced position that required more than 15 seconds to type.

Spend a few minutes thinking up a proper definition of evil or copy paste one from someone who has.

[–] pyre 2 points 5 days ago

I don't think you read my comment carefully enough before you smugly assumed I never thought about this before. you're wrong. what i described is not what every living organism does, and even if it was, a vacuous appeal to nature wouldn't really affect my judgment over human behavior.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

The concept of evil does not emanate solely from religion. While religious traditions often frame evil in relation to divine will, morality, or supernatural forces (e.g., Satan in Christianity), secular and philosophical perspectives also address evil independently of religious contexts. Secular moral frameworks define evil as extreme wrongdoing or harm, often tied to human actions or systemic issues, without invoking supernatural elements. Philosophers like Immanuel Kant have proposed purely secular theories of evil, focusing on moral failures rather than divine aspects. So in ithe euros it’s not dilly but religious, but is a useful multifaceted concept that’s widely understood .land thus useful for discussions (without having to resort to cause or impossible-to-diagnose from afar personality disorders

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

What sets him apart is he is EVIL.

He's an absolute piece of shit. But if you think he stands above Donald Rumsfeld or Steve Bannon or George Shultz or William J. Casey or Samuel Alito on the Evilness Spectrum, you're suffering from profound recency bias.

The history of evil shits running this country goes back a long, long way. Elon's just the latest to claim the mantel. And its safe to say he won't be the last.

What sets him apart is the recklessness and the fecklessness of his actions. He's jamming code updates into a 60 year old system without bothering to bug check them first. Very real possibility he bricks a significant portion of the Treasury software suite before he's done. Prior administrations had an eye towards continuation of careers and legacy of their terms. This administration is treating the term as a Smash-and-Grab, with an eye towards fully expropriating the functions of the federal government to the private sector.

[–] chiliedogg 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

He's a special category.

Lots of people are evil because they want to have more than anybody else.

Elon already has more than anybody else in the history of the planet, and he's getting more evil.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 2 points 5 days ago

He's exactly as evil as Henry Ford and for all the same reasons.

And it's important to recognize that his accumulated wealth is, ultimately, incredibly precarious. He's riding a bubble and a lot of his behavior is about getting out ahead of the big POP! he sees coming.

[–] rottingleaf 1 points 5 days ago

No, the more you have, the more incentive to be evil.

Also works with power to make decisions, obviously. Especially to make decisions for others.

That's where the "small government" thing comes from initially, but unfortunately it can't come some evolutionary way from benevolent oligarchs and politicians voted in. You have to defeat them both first, managing to avoid creating a new vertical power structure, and if successful, creating a clean environment, and then you can build something.

Now comes a question, though, why build something that has been tried and has devolved into what you have now, and will devolve again much faster, not in a century or so, but in a decade or less, because you can't make the environment clean in all dimensions.

[–] YarHarSuperstar 0 points 6 days ago

Well, if we're talking about "this country", he may be the last.

It is, here's the exchange on his own Bluesky account

Seperately he also posted this before that exchange

Marjorie Taylor Greene literally showed a dick pic last year in our Oversight hearing, so I thought I'd show one as well: a picture of President Elon Musk.

How did CNN let them say "dick" on the air??

[–] Vinstaal0 2 points 6 days ago

Because we live in 2025 and swearing hasn’t really been sensored for decades? Or is the US not following that trend either?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago

Man, blue sky is so much cleaner than x has ever been... That was so fast to load, find, and watch. Good lord. I love it.

Robert Garcia is an ex-Republican grifter who is trying to become the next AOC for his own benefit. He tries to stay in the headlines to get gigs on the news. He sold out our city to big developers.

Mayor Robert Garcia Quit the Young Republican Club, but Kept the Libertarian Housing Policies

[–] CuddlyCassowary 2 points 5 days ago

That’s unfortunate to hear overall, and thank you for calling it out, but all things considered, this still feels like a breath of fresh air (or at least not-so-fetid air).

[–] LovableSidekick 26 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Calling someone a dick doesn't fix any problems but is an effective way to get on camera, so mission accomplished. And some people will think saying that is pro-Musk but it's not, it's pro "maybe actually DO something instead of just saying shit to get your face on the news!"

[–] [email protected] 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

When in the legislative minority, getting attention on camera is one of the tools you do have. Make the media focus on what you want it to focus on and create the larger pushback to republicans

Dem US House reps like Garcia have much fewer procedural tools to slow down Republicans compared to US Senators. Without republican support, the amount dems in the house can do is rather limited.

Where house dems will have the most influence is with the budget since Republicans have historically been unable to get themselves to all agree and relied on dem votes. On that front Garcia is fairly clear that he's not going to give into what Republicans are demanding right now

I plan to give Republicans ZERO votes for any of their budget proposals. They are raiding the social safety net and folks want to work with them? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

[–] nickiwest 1 points 5 days ago

Since almost everything is happening through executive orders, I'd say congressional Democrats actually have no procedural tools available right now.

The shrewd move by Republicans would be to just avoid advancing any legislation (since the Dems could try to block it) and just let Trump accomplish all of their goals by fiat until the courts stop him.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago

Believe it or not, off to Guantanamo.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

I have been really skeptical of this lady ever since she did that bullshit story about inflation, featuring a family who supposedly couldn’t make ends meet because of the price of milk, and how it was somehow Biden’s fault. It turned out the family had 9 kids, most of them were over 18, and they bought 12 gallons of milk a week. The mother claimed milk had been $1.99 (not true) and became $2.79. So supposedly this family was tanked by an extra $38 a month. In light of the inflation we’ve experienced lately, oh.

[–] edgemaster72 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

He's not wrong, but I don't know what it's going to accomplish when the GOP and their supporters have no shame

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Did you think the same thing when Tim Walz called Trump "weird"?

[–] edgemaster72 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It annoyed them a bit but it didn't really dissuade people from supporting Trump and Vance, and I think they'd mind the label "dick" even less than that, so again I don't really know what it's going to accomplish. People were told they're fascists, told they're weird, they didn't care then, they won't care now.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

This isn't for Trump supporters, though. It's for Democrats. If you think that the goal is to win over Trump voters, then you've already lost. Mocking and demoralizing your opponents is one of the tools from the Trump tool kit, and it's one that most Democrats are too nice to use.

Calling the schoolyard bully a dick is a small step, but at least it's in the right direction.

[–] edgemaster72 0 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

You can mock them, but it won't demoralize them, certainly not with this specific insult. They celebrate being dickish. What Democrats don't already know that Trump and his cronies are dicks and bullies? How does it benefit Democrats? It's not like they haven't tried insults before. Weird, rapist, Mango Mussolini (and all other variations riffing on Trump's orangeness), couch fucker, etc. were all thrown around plentifully.

PLEASE tell me this is real!!
