MODERATORS

The vote fell almost entirely along party lines, with only Sen. John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat, joining with all Republicans to pass her confirmation 54-46.

With no due respect, fuck Fetterman.

Democrats need to do better.

How has fetterman not been removed from the party and sued to recover campaign funds he lied to get. I don't buy his bullshit "stroke" changing him to a republican thing

[–] NocturnalEngineer 47 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Wait wait wait...

His rationale for turning republican is that he's had a sudden mental & cognative decline? He's actually admitted that?

"Hey Republicans, since having a brain injury I now align with everything your Nazi party is trying to achieve..."

[–] Brunbrun6766 38 points 6 days ago

He DID have a stroke yes. And he claims it "cleansed him of his liberalism"

His rationale for turning republican is that he’s had a sudden mental & cognative decline? He’s actually admitted that?

He spent the campaign before the stroke talking about how progressive he was and progressive policy was the only path forward...

After the stroke and election, he openly admits to not understanding why people would ever think he's progressive...

Either he's lying and it was all scam, or he legitimately doesn't remember anything about his own campaign and what he was saying during it.

Either is a good reason to kick him out of the party (and office), but Dem leadership has only cared about defending incumbents without question. Because most of the Dem leadership represent voters who don't agree with them anymore.

So if the party stops blindly defending incumbents and starts having unbiased primaries, a lot of Dem leadership will lose their personal power.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Dem leadership has already lost all power. Speculating on how to fix the party is like talking about how to fix a window on a house that just burned down.

[–] givesomefucks 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

So Schumer and Pelosi arent calling shots?

Did that just happen, I completely missed it...

Last I heard they were still fighting progress and complying with fascists

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

No, I'm talking about the country. It doesn't matter what the democrats do; they will never be in power again because you can't vote out fascism.

[–] givesomefucks 1 points 6 days ago

Oh ok...

This is one of those things where a brand new account attempts to convince people there's no way to win and we should all give up.

Not many people fall for that these days, so I don't think this needs my attention

[–] SinningStromgald 18 points 6 days ago

Money or closet skeletons. One or both changed him.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

the party

You mean the Democrats correct? Because the DNC (one of the funding arms of the blue party in the US) doesn't actually care about the issues "the party" cares about. They have their own agenda that involves making a lot of money for their big donors. Having a rotating villain like Manchin, Lieberman, Sinema, Fetterman is the best case scenario. Because it means they don't have to ever "actually" support things that would cost their donor's money.

[–] inclementimmigrant 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

But, but what about judges or some shit like that.

Say what you will about Republicans but fuck they got their members always in line even if it is done through gl threat of being effectively primaried by Trump's MAGA.

[–] UsernameHere -3 points 6 days ago

Just image how many more Fettermans and Sinemas we will get if the DNC removes closed primaries like leftists are calling for.

[–] CharlesDarwin 40 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Fetterman seems to be a case study in how brain damage makes one a con.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My father was republican, which makes sense because he worked in finance, but it wasn't until his TBI that he started drinking the Maga kool-aid.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Wasn't RFK Jr a Democrat until he got a brain worm?

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Trump was a Democrat as well until Putin told him he could be a dictator instead. Note he stated in several interviews he talked with him directly and indirectly. Said he met him in person during interviews in 2023-2014 time period. Then when he ran for president both Trump and Putin both went to the narrative they had never met before.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

I has a TBI when I was a kid, and other than thinking classical libertarianism had a place in any modern society, I just keep getting more angrily lefty as time goes on.

Maybe if I tried breaking my head open as an adult it would have been different?

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

No he was just gaming you guys. He was always a silver spoon, oligarch’s nepo baby. He just played you guys by simply wearing a hoodie and shorts and pretending to be an every man, and distracting with his wardrobe. I remember when he was being pushed, i was saying that he was not to be trusted and people should not rush to worship the guy. I used to get downvoted and banned for saying it then .

Reminds me of years ago when I’d get downvoted for telling people that “cute uncle Joe” with the memes was actually a horrible example for the left and had a terrible record. “But the ice cream memes!”

[–] just_another_person 34 points 6 days ago

Fuck Fetterman.

[–] FiremanEdsRevenge 15 points 6 days ago (1 children)

So much for filibustering these confirmations, guys.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

The rules were changed in 2017 for nominations. You can't block them with filibustering anymore.

The trick to stopping this was either electing a different person to President or eliminating the Senate majority for the President's party.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago (2 children)

John Fetterman is a fucking fraud.

[–] inclementimmigrant 7 points 6 days ago

Yup. Not just to Democrat but also to the workers he keeps claiming to be doing this for.

[–] Hugin 5 points 6 days ago

For my state congressman during the primaries a guy knocked on my door and was ruining in the Democratic primary. Young guy who claimed progressive values. Creepy vibe.

I looked him up after and he had a failed bid as a republican congressman one state over. Republicans are trying to sneak in their own into democratic primaries and it's working.

[–] Zerlyna 8 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Jesus. Again. I hate this timeline.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Democrats need to do better.

Republicans need to do better. Or is this "both sides" are responsible for confirming Bondi?

[–] inclementimmigrant 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

This is about calling out Democrats to fucking get their shit in order and control your damn members from voting for and enabling fascist.

And no, both sides are the same, Democrats are worse when they're enabling fascist with a whimper. Grow a damn spine and actually resist.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Fetterman has effectively defected. The only recourse is to kick him out of the caucus. How does that stop Trump's agenda?

Fetterman has 4 more years to his term.

You want them to hold a gun to his head and tell him how to vote? Still doesn't stop this confirmation. May as well do the same to the Republicans.

[–] inclementimmigrant 1 points 6 days ago

Then kick his fucking ass out of the caucus, like you said if it changes nothing at the end of the day then so be it. Have some damn spines and put up opposition and primary the fuck out of whoever doesn't fall in god damn line.

And as for you "hold a gun up to his head" and Republicans, you really should listen to this The Daily Podcast about that. Hate the game but fucking play it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

There's always that convenient one Democrat that allows them to say "Oh, we tried, but...."

[–] UsernameHere 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You’re blaming the DNC for Fetterman voting against the party lines.

All while leftist call for the DNC to end closed primaries so we can have more Fettermans and Sinemas.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I didn't specifically blame anyone. It's just a frustrating pattern that seems to keep happening.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago

The vote was 54-46. Fetterman voting with the Dems and 3 Republicans having a conscience still would not have prevented this.

The blame lies with 54 Senators and the President who nominated Bondi.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool 3 points 6 days ago

She looks like Anya Taylor Joy is aged up makeup

[–] givesomefucks -3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Democrats need to do better.

Good to see moderates finally realizing we need higher standards than the letter after a name

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

You yourself commented here that Fetterman ran as a progressive. A progressive got elected! You got what you wanted.

Now what?
