trumpers
Even Trumpers seem to be on the right side of this mostly.
Nah, this act was unifying. Everyone but the elites and pearl clutching servants of the elites is in support of this.
This is what blows my mind. If we assume that the evidence found on Luigi is real, he explicitly told us that greed was the cause.
probably the generation of leaded paint and oil
They hung up on the pollster before giving an answer.
They couldn't stop laughing long enough to answer before hanging up.
Mordant laughter
Out of every poll on pretty much any topic, you can typically expect anywhere from 10%-33% of people who will believe just about anything no matter how asininely stupid the option they are choosing is
They're in a coma from something that could've been cured had their insurance paid for the proper treatment
They misunderstood the question thinking it was about Luigi being the greedy one.
Dead eyes type.
they believe all corporate greed and wealth consolidation is to blame.
Aren’t they?
Probably those who disagree would be staunchly capitalists.
You can fool some of the people all of the time.
If this is the same poll that I saw a few days ago just being reported by another outlet, then the biggest headline should be that 11% put literally 0% of the fault on the shooter. Absolutely none.
That's 1.2 people per jury who even when presented with a shooter would say they bear no responsibility for the death.
Except prosecutors are good at sussing out people with a moral compass and kicking them off the jury.
Any time you have any hope of any kind, remember that just as the health care system has nothing to do with caring, the justice system has nothing to do with justice.
The ideal outcome from this would be comprehensive health care reform in the US, probably including single-payer health care for all Americans. Neither major party will support it and even though a majority of Americans support it, they don't know how to use the democratic system to get it. All of the republican party and 75 percent of Democrats will take health industry money to preserve the status quo. The few progressive Democrats who actually attempt to take this on will have to fight most of their own party, and they can never win that way. Americans are also rather easily distracted.
Unfortunately the most likely outcome of this whole thing is, within a small margin of error, nothing.
Nah, this is going to blow up. Luigi will be in the news pretty much weekly for the next 18-24 months. This is just starting to roll.
I wonder if he's willing to keep going hard and tank his own defense.
If he was, and his lawyers were willing and able, I still don't know what it would look like. Maybe maneuver some kind of disclosures that wouldn't otherwise be available. But that was suppose to be the case with Ghizlane Maxwell too and look how it turned out.
In terms of broad social effects, Shinzo Abe is the only example to look at that I'm aware of.
There's no disclosure that will matter. What would that be? That health insurance companies did their best to avoid paying out claims they knew to be legitimate? That they delayed coverage of medical produceres hoping the patient would just die before they had to pay? All of that is literally what they're supposed to do. That's their purpose. They maximized shareholder value by doing those things. Their CEOs got bonuses by doing those things.
Private for-profit insurance is inherently parasitic. Every dollar they earn in revenue is literally just inefficiency in health care spending, and they are directly incentized to maximize those dollars.
The health insurance industry itself needs to be destroyed, or at least shrunken massively. A huge number of Americans, even many who claim to want single-payer health insurance, will oppose political movement in that direction.
Roll into what? People are willing to read, and bitch online. Occasionally, you might get them to vote. Nothing will happen beyond that.
Bet you're the same person who would say the shooter would never happen!
You gotta leave some time for the crowd to do their thing my dude ;)
I don’t see a mechanism for converting that action to large scale movements
It doesn’t have to be a large scale movement. A couple of copy cats would get things moving.
You can't predict the specific details of small things like individuals and what events will be the flashpoint... We're talking about systems things in the first place so trying to predict the future by working your way back from a nearly certain outcome is just going to lead down infinite rabbit holes.
However that doesn't mean that one of those infinite rabbit holes wasn't the right one - I just think it can't be predicted. Perhaps for 3 Body Problem kind of reasons.
That's the point. The commenter said it is just the start and things will improve without any hints of doubt. It sure would be great but from the part incidents, it is just unlikely. No one can predict the future but imo it is definitely more likely for almost no noticeable impact than the end of entire for-profit medical industry.
People are willing to read, and bitch online.
People? Or you?
Unfortunately the most likely outcome of this whole thing is, within a small margin of error, nothing.
Agree politically but disagree when it comes to stochastic terrorism. The people are fed up and the government has been out to brunch for decades.
I assume the other 3 are in elementary school and don't understand the concepts yet?
Remember remember!
The 4th of December
A CEO dies all alone;
On the street he was lain,
cold, pale and in pain,
thousands of deaths that he own.
The decisions he'd struck,
Layers removed from the slaughter,
Were a shareholder's treat,
Your dead mother or daughter.
Those investors all wait, on that cold winter morn,
Still unawares of profit potential they'd mourn,
Poking at hotel breakfast, bored looks on their face
As was Brian's when he denied and delayed at great pace
Endless growth, deposed, on behalf of us all
Luigi didn't do it, we were hiking in Nepal.
You needed to conduct a survey to figure this out?
Better to have receipts than none, yea?
doing a poll for a question meant for Luigi
