Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has launched a comprehensive housing initiative to address the country's housing deficit by building a million homes and offering zero-interest mortgages.

The program, aimed at supporting vulnerable groups, focuses on female-led households, young people, Indigenous communities and senior citizens. The announcement is a fulfillment of Sheinbaum's campaign promise to create affordable housing and promote equitable urban development.

Hola it’s me your lost Mexican neighbor.

Deport immigrants? People are going to be running to the fucking border if there is a place that can give them a shot at affordable housing. US, Canada and most of the world in crisis because free markets only build high-end homes.

s/high-end/high-priced/

Trump playing 5D chess. Maybe Mexico will pay for that wall after all.

Mexico has their first woman for president, meanwhile we have our first felon for president.

🤦‍♂️

2nd, he took office in 2016. He's not a new criminal

[–] Bunnylux 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He wasnt a convicted felon then, don't be a pedant

[–] arin 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

His crime occurred before his presidency. Regardless more than 50% voted for him for the 2nd term... Also he literally sold pardons lmfao

[–] Bunnylux 9 points 1 month ago

I'm not a fucking idiot, I know that. Calling someone a "felon" implies a conviction.

And we turned down two women in a row, the most recent one being practically no different from the guy who wasn't great but got 10 million more votes. Mexico is less sexist than the US it would seem

[–] skhayfa 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe our two women candidates should have campaigned on affordable housing

[–] SourGumGum 4 points 1 month ago

Or build like 1 million houses for them.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Do we have the world's first felon president?

[–] ChocoboRocket 58 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Damn, strong policy that will actually help regular people acquire a fundamental human need without taking them for absolutely everything they are worth?

Can't believe she hasn't been assassinated yet.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

If she legalized drugs, she'd be assassinated for sure.

With policies like this they better build a wall

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Just build homes along the border. I know they got border towns already. Make 1 long border town wall.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes 2 points 1 month ago

Trump said he would build a wall. He said he'd get Mexico to pay for it. You all said he wasn't playing 4D chess shakin my smh-in head

Even Mexico cares more about their citizens than the USA. We send them back and they get social assistance.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 month ago

The US is at the bottom of the list for caring about citizens in any metric. No paid maternity or paternity leave, most expensive healthcare in the world, no guaranteed vacation, sick, or Holiday pay.

What left leaning policies does to a mf (mexican friend)

[–] demizerone 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I might be deported there bcz my dad came from there in the 1960s.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Looks like the housing market is going to be better there at least, so you've got that going for you! Hell, maybe they're anticipating an incoming deportation crisis and that's why they're building.

On a more serious note, I do hope nobody will forcefully deport you and that you get to keep on living in the country where you always have and probably plan on continuing to live in. My country suffered through two mass deportation events several decades before I was born and this is STILL affecting families. I don't wish for anyone else to have to go through this.

Meanwhile in America, they are criminalizing being homeless and /or poor

[–] werefreeatlast 4 points 1 month ago

We've been here before. I've seen the housing they come up with. It's basically a bunch of tiny ass houses all in the same block next to each other in the middle of nowhere.
