Pizza Hawaii is a Canadian invention by a Greek immigrant, who was inspired by Chinese cuisine to put a South American fruit on an Italian dish, and it's most popular in Australia. How can you not love this?

[–] Shapillon 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

and it tastes good.

(although my fav pizza still is anvhovies)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Four cheese woth anchovies and bacon is a banger!

[–] Shapillon 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd trade the bacon for some spicy sausage with some nice chillies in the sauce for some kick but it sounds like my kinda fun.

Or it would if I didn't have the weird idea of going mostly vegetarian... The only addiction I can't beat is any kind of fish sauce (like nuoc-mâm, oyster sauce, etc).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fair play, thats the beauty of pizza being able to mix and match shit.

Maybe go pescatarian instead if you cant give up the fish?

[–] Shapillon 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I don't even like fish that much, especially when cooked. The texture gets kinda gross and the taste is at best ok.

It's just the fish sauce. Even the mere smell is kinda fascinating. Like when you put smth smelly on your fingers and can't help but sniffing them.

I've come to accept it as either a limit to my commitment or an inconsistency in my stance.

Likewise, once or twice a year I'll treat myself with some quality offals which I miss way more than steack. Last time was some heart and liver soup kinda like phò.

I think the next thing to fix on my diet is cut off cow cheese since it implies making and subsequently killing veals every year.

And someday I'll build a halfway decent pizza oven in my backyard n_n

Also calzones are harder to make but very underrated.

It's a Mr World Wide of Pizza. Excellent.

Why do people dislike pineapple on pizza?

It is pretty good, especially if you add a nice hot sauce to it.

[–] cannedtuna 11 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Pineapple + jalapeños + pepperoni or chicken is where it’s at

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Hot + sweet is really good.

[–] RestrictedAccount 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This place in town used to make a pizza called “the umami”.

It had pineapple, candied jalapeños, bacon, parmigiana, pesto swirls, and a little mozzarella on an olive oil base.

It was sooooo delicious

[–] cannedtuna 3 points 1 month ago

That does sound amazing

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Yesssssssss! Sweet heat is where it's at. And as a bonus, my pineapple-hating family won't steal any of it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Most of the time is an overly hyperbolic joke. I do not like pineapple on my pizza, I don't particularly care if others do, but it can be fun to pretend like it's a huge problem on the internet.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

If you like pineapple, I'm sure its great. If you don't like pineapple, its gonna ruin the whole fucking dish. You cant just scrape it off. The flavor permeates. Like olives. shudder

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But what if I like olives and pineapple.

Settle down, 3 year old.

[–] KoalaUnknown 2 points 1 month ago

Olives are great tho

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Because it's not heckin traditional!

[–] Nuke_the_whales 4 points 1 month ago

Pineapple and jalapenos is bomb. Also with black olives

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because true pizza doesn't have fruit on it or something like that

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

except tomato, of course. ... and possibly olives. ... and sometimes pineapple.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Ham and Pineapple pizza is great

[–] Num10ck 1 points 1 month ago

try it under the cheese, its magical.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (3 children)

The more they complain the more I add cream to the carbonara.

[–] Agent641 5 points 1 month ago

Coconut cream? Great choice!

(Jokes but no jokes, I do this IRL)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Doofus. I make carbonaaaaaaaara the authentic Italian way. Pretty much.

I don't use guancale because I can never find it in the store, so I mix it up with Oscar Mayer hotdogs, pepperoni, and some crispy bacon. I don't use eggs because who's got time for that shit, so I mostly use mayonnaise. Bucatini and other fancy pastas are for losers so I sub in some tater tots instead of the pasta. And Pecorino Romano is expensive so I generally use Easy Cheese spray and crushed up Cheetos. I don't add cream, but I do add ketchup which does much the same job. And peas because they give that pop of color and flavor. And obviously some hot sauce because otherwise it's a bit bland. And some pineapple for that Hawaaaiiain/Italian fusion vibe.

But basically it's an authentic carbonaaaaaaaara just like you get in Rome. Oh, I like to hit it with a good old splash of A.1. Sauce because why wouldn't you? I love A.1. Sauce.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

For your personal safety, don't ever set foot in Rome /j

I put the meme's caption into an image creator just for the heck of it.

[–] umbraroze 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Ah yes. Everyone knows what the Italian-Americans thought about this historic atrocity. But it seems that people rarely ask what did the pineapples think about this. Now this is a new perspective!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Some NC-17 shenanigans have happened to that pineapple.

[–] LemmyKnowsBest 2 points 1 month ago

Jeez, the caption didn't mention anything about the pineapple being in a state of terror as well. ai needs to calm down a bit.

I'm going to have pineapple pizza tonight just to spite you all

Pineapple pepperoni and red onion for the win.

[–] ikidd 7 points 1 month ago

Actually, it was a Canadian invention, and we're sorry.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I saved this image to send to a friend who likes pineapple on pizza. Just waiting until a little later in the morning to not be a jerk for sending too early.

[–] CodexArcanum 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You're a good and considerate friend, personally I've never believed those nasty rumors.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

The pineapple criminal said it made him laugh. I told him I'll always be available to tell him he's wrong about pizza.

[–] BallShapedMan 7 points 1 month ago

Poor Joe Pesci!

[–] iMastari 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That does not look like the style of clothing worn back then so I will call it faked, but the jist of it is still hilarious.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I don't think there was any doubt

[–] mechoman444 1 points 1 month ago

People who know.

The ending of that movie still haunts my dreams.

[–] niktemadur 1 points 1 month ago

That's almost worse than getting whacked with college (aluminum) baseball bats!
