Just because you're really, really, ridiculously good looking, doesn't mean that you, too, can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

I rock out to WHAM cuz I'm not a big Limp Bizkit fan.

[–] jj4211 1 points 4 months ago

[–] Iheartcheese 5 points 4 months ago

Maybe he's the problem

Thank goodness Ronnie is in hell right now or George Michael would be giving him a pow-wham-bam in the face

ITT: "Reagan would be right because Wham! sucks" people who don't get the connection between the massive popularity and rabid fanbase of Wham! in the 80s and the one for Taylor Swift now.

The Final was the farewell concert by English pop duo Wham!. It was held at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 28 June 1986.[1] A total of 72,000 people attended the event

George Michael had his flaws, but he was an earnest, hard-working, and occasionally insightful person. Check out his take on Joy Division as compared to Morrisey and some random DJ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj3HOklzUTo

I always knew he was a monster. But this is just beyond the pale. One does not say they hate the creators of the best Christmas song “Last Christmas” (or maybe second best if Christmas Wrapping is in the mix).

[–] Viking_Hippie 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Last Christmas is not the best Christmas song. It's the most overplayed one here in Denmark and probably other countries too. Last Christmas is to Denmark what All I Want For Christmas Is You is to the US, possibly worse.

Anyway, the BEST Christmas song is and will always be Queen's Thank God It's Christmas, in spite of the religious reference in the title and chorus.

[–] TheCannonball 0 points 4 months ago

Yeah no I hate that song.

Is their WORST and most overplayed song.

OK then. Next year, to save you from tears, we'll play it for someone special.

[–] Viking_Hippie 5 points 4 months ago

That's part of the problem: they save nobody from tears by playing it for everyone!

They really should change it to opt-in.

[–] Korne127 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Of course most overplayed. I mean at least here in Germany, that's a huge meme that as soon as Christmas time begins, Last Christmas is unavoidable and no matter where you go, you'll hear it everywhere (also on every radio station).
So Wham is often mentioned in a negative light due to this (e.g. "A radio station without Wham - that would be a [great] present" in a comedian's song).

Same here in Denmark lol, howdy neighbor 😁

It's even turned into a social media challenge where whomever avoids it the longest wins. I lasted to the 15th last year by avoiding shopping centers whenever possible and not listening to the radio 😄

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

The version I've seen in the US uses Little Drummer Boy, but Last Christmas would work well, too.

I gave you my heart

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

To the tune of "can't hug every cat".

[–] Darkard 3 points 4 months ago (2 children)

What would Ronald Reagan name his own social media site?

[–] Viking_Hippie 8 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Something to do with Jelly Bellies or astrology, probably 🤷

[–] FlyingSquid 2 points 4 months ago

Instagrampa.

It must be tough living without ears.

I'm not much of a Wham! fan, but apart from anything else, George Michael is one hell of a singer. I like the solo stuff he did after leaving Wham! a lot more. I think "Freedom! 90" is an amazing song.

What is it with him and exclamation points anyway?

[–] Korne127 -1 points 4 months ago

Why would someone make Reagan look sympathetic?
