Former U.S. president Donald Trump recounted a story to reporters on Thursday about being involved in a helicopter emergency landing with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.

Asked by a reporter about U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’ previous relationship with Brown and whether it helped her career trajectory, Trump said he knew Brown “very well” and told a story about the alleged helicopter incident.

“I know Willie Brown very well. In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought maybe this is the end. We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing,” Trump told reporters gathered at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for his first news conference since the Democratic ticket was announced.

Brown, however, rejected Trump’s account as “obviously wrong” during a phone call later Thursday with CNN, saying: “I’ve never been in a helicopter with him in my life.”

“Willie is the short Black guy living in San Francisco,” Holden said. “I’m a tall Black guy living in Los Angeles.

“I guess we all look alike,” Holden told POLITICO, letting out a loud laugh.

It happened, but wrong Black dude.

Maybe Holden and Brown both became black like Kamala and when you're a fresh black person, you tend to look like the industrial negroid mold they use.

Trending on xitter (for real, I just spent 72 hours there, voluntarily, was invited to join in April, '06, made acct, never used it):

"Kamala isn't African-American. She's Jamaican-Indian!"

True story.
Oh, now I can dunk, "I deleted my 18 year old twitter!"

[–] FlyingSquid 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Yeah, there's this new idea they're trying to push that Jamaicans aren't black. Wait until they find out that her father had a white grandparent. I'm guessing they won't agree that a multiracial child of a multiracial man is pretty fucking awesome. But they're still both black.

They're also pointing out she's descended from slave owners (Hamilton?), so they're making her less Black by the minute.

Song by Peter Tosh

Don't care where you come from As long as you're a black man You're an African No mind your nationality You have got the identity of an African

Cause if you go to the Catholic And if you go to the Methodist And if you go to the Church of Gods You're an African

...

'Cause if you come from Brixton And if you come from Weesday And if you come from Wingstead And if you come from France ...Brooklyn ...Queens ...Manhattan ...Canada ...Miami ...Switzerland ...Germany ...Russia ...Taiwan

Peter Tosh. From Jamaica. So not black for some reason that the MAGA assholes can't actually explain.

[–] dogsnest 4 points 3 months ago

What would he know...?

[–] fox2263 8 points 3 months ago

Just don’t tell them how Jamaicans got there.

It happened, but wrong Black dude.

No, the right dude was also asked and said that while he flew with trump there was never an emergency incident.

The Times reported Thursday that the former president apparently confused Willie Brown with former California Gov. Jerry Brown, with whom he toured wildfire damage by helicopter in November 2018.

A spokesperson for Jerry Brown told the Times that “there was no emergency landing and no discussion of Kamala Harris.”

Tl;Dr Trump confused two different black politicians, and the "conversation" about Harris never happened (with either).

Also:

Over the phone Friday, Res said Trump liked to tell a joke about Holden on the helicopter — “you turned white,” he said. But she said it was Trump’s face that was white. “He was white as snow,” Holden added. “And he was scared shitless.”

I see, thanks. I was going with this article.

[–] dogsnest 9 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Ya, my bad, I should have cited the article I pulled the quote from.

cheers,

[–] FlyingSquid 56 points 3 months ago (2 children)

He misspoke. He meant he went down on Willie Brown in a helicopter.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Do you think that helped Trumps career?

[–] FlyingSquid 7 points 3 months ago

I think it's the only way he can relate to a black man.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

I had to reread that line in the summary a couple times to get it right. At first I thought it said he and Brown "went down on a helicopter" which intrigued me on the mechanics of how that'd work.

[–] numlok 54 points 3 months ago

Here's the latest update, which makes a lot more sense than mistaking Jerry Brown for Willie Brown, is hilarious, and somehow also manages to make Trump look even worse than the previous explanation.

TLDR: Trump is senile and racist

[–] DarkDecay 36 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Title should read 'Old convicted felon lies, again'

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

Confuses dreams with reality. Has new reality every night.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Senility strikes again

[–] Cheesus 33 points 3 months ago

Now that he's benchmarked against Harris, his mental health is looking worse and worse every day

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Isn't this something that can be easily verified? I thought emergency landings had to be reported to the FAA.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

It was verified by another passenger, Trump just got the name wrong. He's probably also exaggerating the situation for dramatic purposes

The helicopter needed to land because of turbulence and instrument malfunctions. They weren't in risk of crashing. Shortly beforehand, there had been a helicopter crash in the area, which influenced the pilot to take "safety first" landing. Trump went right into another helicopter to continue his journey...

Anyway, I fully understand the need to land and why passengers including Trump were scared shitless, but it's really nothing to brag about.

I almost got hit by a car yesterday. It was on the road and I was on the pavement. Close call.

[–] Rakonat 9 points 3 months ago

Clearly being shot at didn't give as much as a boost as he'd hope so now he's making shit up to get sympathy?

[–] paraphrand 6 points 3 months ago

Maybe it was actually with Brian Williams?

[–] FilthyShrooms 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm out of the loop, why is trump lying about a helicopter and why is it important?

[–] auzy 1 points 3 months ago

Turns out he wasn't lying. He just seems to mix up faces and people.

I'd say the only thing preventing him mixing up random blondes in his audience with his daughter is that the secret service will block them from getting close

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

When I first read the headline my brain saw “went down on” and I thought “wtf!!!!”. Oops.
