Shit, sometimes I call my kid the dog’s name and vice versa, and I’m half biden’s age

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago

I used to get frustrated that my mother would accidentally call me by either of my brothers' names. Then I found myself doing so with my own cats and I forgave her.

This is honestly the stupidest media frenzy I've seen in a long time. They were talking about Putin. He went back to the mic and corrected himself: "He's fighting to beat Putin, President Zelenskyy!" and Zelenskyy rolled with it.

This is literally top news on all serious news sites. 🙄There's no mention of what Zelenskyy said afterward or anything else. It's even more idiotic than the "Dean Scream".

These news outlets are literally just click bait now, and they want anything to be a scandal no matter how small.

It’s as if the media just met Biden for the first time in his career

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

He mentioned it in the press conference when they asked him about it. Basically called them stupid, and asked if they had heard all the European NATO leaders complimenting him too.

Biden's been making gaffs like this for almost 50 years. Its what he was most famous for before becoming VP.

[–] 13esq -3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

And the democrats can't produce a candidate that's not gaff prone? What a sorry state of affairs.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Who cares if he says the wrong name occasionally? At least he usually corrects himself unlike Trump

[–] 13esq 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I honestly wouldn't care if he wasn't applying for what is arguably the most important job in the world and I think the "still better than Trump" argument is just setting an extremely low bar.

I don't think knowing the difference between Zelensky and Putin is a big ask.

So you're voting for the rapist cuz only one of them can get to 270...see how your logic completely falls apart when you realize you have no other choice.

[–] 13esq 1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I'm not voting for either. I'm not American. I'm just concerned with the shit state of America's shit choice of candidates for president because of how it affects the rest of the world.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Media: “Let’s spend the next two weeks talking about this, and nothing else.”

[–] 13esq -4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Lemmy: "Trumps a raving lunatic so let's pretend this is OK and that this is the best candidate that the party can put forward".

[–] Dkarma 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It is ok. A potato is better than trump. Put my dog in there idc

[–] 13esq 2 points 5 months ago

I really think that you're just highlighting how shit the situation is.

[–] Donjuanme 25 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Trump said there were airplanes in the civil war.

[–] EleventhHour 10 points 5 months ago

And the GOP is low-key planning another one right now, openly discussing it… yet, this is all the media can talk about.

[–] 13esq 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Trump being a raving lunatic doesn't make it OK to not find a candidate that doesn't belong in a care home.

[–] Dkarma 2 points 5 months ago

No but it does make it ok to vote for Biden. You people act like the administration would be drastically different of Kamala won instead of Biden...get a fucking clue ...it would be the same ppl behind the scenes.

[–] daryashkoh 22 points 5 months ago

Call me when Biden threatens to withhold military aid unless Zelensky makes up shit about Biden's political enemies.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I have real concerns about Biden's competency (though don't get me wrong; I'm voting for whomever the "not Trump" option is), but I have swapped names (or nouns in general) in sentences more times that I care to think about; my mind and mouth aren't always working at the same speed and it happens sometimes.

[–] 13esq -3 points 5 months ago

You're not applying for the arguably the most important job in the world. I think "better than Trump tho" is an extremely low bar and actually rather depressing.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Sheesh. You know none of this would be a big deal in isolation, but there is so much pressure on him right now to be perfect after the debate. I don't really care whether he stays or goes except insofar as it makes it easier or harder to take on Trump, but ordinary human mistakes have taken on a new importance and the more he makes the more the pressure will mount.

[–] RampantParanoia2365 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

My mother regularly combined me and my sister's name into one word, and I imagine Biden has a bit more on his plate.

[–] 13esq 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Copium. I hate Trump but this is absolute basics when it comes to world politics.

It was a huge gaff.

[–] sturmblast 10 points 5 months ago (4 children)

I care about this about as much as I care about my mother forgetting what day my birthday is (she always gets it a day off) and this has happened since she was in her 30's.. can we focus on things that matter please?

I found a Livestream...

They're playing old speeches and they jumped from the 2008 Palin debate to yesterday's NATO speech...

Which I guess is better than running his old stuff right up to the live stuff. But it was just so fucking jarring. I don't know how people can say age isn't effecting him.

He's just staring down at a podium and reading a piece of paper.

[–] anticolonialist -1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

His old speeches are nowhere close to the train wreck it is now

[–] givesomefucks -1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

I get most people don't remember him at his peak in the 80s, but Obama wasn't that long ago. Even then, he sounded like a functional adult.

His press conference was supposed to start at 6:30 I thought, then it said 6:55 at one point...

It's 7:07 and he's still not out.

I had to switch streams and now it's just running recent reports on him to kill time, but they're all bad because there's no good news...

I don't know what's going on but he needs to get on camera asap.

[–] anticolonialist -4 points 5 months ago

He better hurry, he's getting close to his sundowning time
