Well, the past Aquaman films didn't look too good either.

I just feel bad for the people who worked on the new one. I'm sure they worked super hard on it, but compared to what Cameron did with actual water tank filming, and what Del Toro did shooting dry for wet, the trailers look terrible.
No they looked really good but they definitely weren't very good.
Nah they definitely looked awful too
I went in with no expectations this year, and being a fan of basically all the marvel movies in some aspects and the earlier DC films. I was actually legitimately mad that people still talk fondly of aquaman. Maybe I'm slightly biased as Nu52 Aquaman was basically the only comic series I read at that point but the movie was legitimately awful.
If James Gunn has an ounce of sense he'll go "Hey Jason! So... lemme tell you about this character called 'Lobo'..."
He's to pretty to be Lobo. Danny Trejo would be an obvious choice. Or Ron Perlman. But they are to old now.
Considering Colin Farell was the penguin in Batman there's nothing makeup artists can't do these days.
Good point. And considering that, anybody cold play Lobo. Give Taylor Swift fake pecks and acting lessons and she could pull it off. I have no point.
Ever hear of makeup
All good points, tangentially I feel it’s important to mention though that the key to this film is going to be the design of the bike. It needs to be Keaton era Batmobile or Tumbler level exciting to reallly land it properly.
Or Mickey Rourke?
I'm in.
Bro you must be blind
Being a heterosexual dude, I don't consider myself knowingable on male beauty standards, so I might be wrong.
You are not wrong, honestly.
Right‽‽‽ We need a good antihero movie and a Lobo film has been a long time coming. Momoa could pull it off, too.
Even the guy who portrayed him in Krypton looks like a budget skinny Jason rofl
Good tbh.
Super hero films basically need to die at this point, or at least be reimagined.
At this point they’re just bad. They don’t have to be, but they are.
Edgar Wright said a similar thing recently: that the best thing they could do with superhero films is take a break, and wait for audiences to become excited about them again.
That’s what marvel should have done after Endgame. Wait at least 5 years before releasing anything new. Instead Disney does wha tit always does and saturated the market with subpar media.
Jason tried his best but really they need to get an actor in who suits the role. Like Michael Cera perhaps.
They need the actor that played Beans on Even Stevens.
That movie was hot garbage. Can totally understand how the sequel doesn't get much traction.
So we're learning that DC's equivalent character to Aquaman can't carry a movie franchise?
What's that?
DC's version of Aquaman is actually the Aquaman? The one famous for being a the wet sidekick of the Justice League? They made a movie about that character?
And they were planning a second one?
And only the second one isn't getting made?
Nice. Way to go, Jason Momoa! That turned out better than expected.
I mean Aquaman 1 made a shit ton of money, it’s the highest grossing DC movie with nearly $1.15bil. It’s currently the 28th highest grossing movie of all time, made more than Spider-Man: Far From Home, Joker, and Oppenheimer. So it really did turn out way better than expected.
The second, which they did make and is about to come out, is looking to flop pretty hard though. He’s saying that there’s not likely to be a third because of this.
Which is fine by me really. Aquaman may have been a massive success and turned the character into a thirst trap instead of a joke, but I did think it was just mid.
Oh, we're getting a second one?! Sweet!
This is way more than I expected for "The Aquaman".
I guess my brain is incapable of accepting this reality where Aquaman is this successful at the movies.
I think that was everyone’s reaction haha. That Aquaman? I’m still surprised it did so well.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Jason Momoa may love playing Aquaman, but he is unsure about the future of the DC superhero franchise.
The actor recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about his concerns regarding future installments while promoting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which arrives in theaters Dec. 22.
The actor has been open about his appreciation for getting to play Aquaman, especially because he loves the ocean and also wanted to be a marine biologist growing up.
The actor added, “I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time.
Momoa first appeared as Aquaman in 2017’s Justice League before leading his own movie the following year.
Though Aquaman isn’t currently in Gunn and Safran’s DC slate that they unveiled earlier this year, the actor hopes to remain in the superhero universe, even if it’s as a different comic book character.

Just add more explosions to move between scenes.
I didn't like the black manta in the last movie. Black manta in young justice was great need and we needed that version.
Honestly superhero movies are so overdone and samey that watching any of Marvel ones is like watching all of them, just radomized by an AI and DC movies have just been even worse. The best current superhero media I can think of is the Hartley Quinn animated one, Invincible and The Boys. The big studios should really move away from the formulaic writing and take some risks.
