People have actually said this to me in full seriousness. Preemptive revenge killing against hypothetical wild pig attacks is apparently self defense, so that's why they eat pork from real captive factory farm pigs. It is such odd... "logic", clearly working backwards from the point they want to arrive at.

Like srsly, it was something like a month ago on this very platform.

^i think i may have just found a vegan

[–] cmbabul 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Definitely not a valid point against what I’m assuming is veganism, or even a coherent intelligent thing to say, but I want to make sure we are all on the same page that wild boar are insanely dangerous and will kill you dead.

I’m not a vegan but I admire the commitment and resolve of those who are, just want to spread the word about the dangers of wild boar after I watched a steel tipped arrow bounce off of one while on the first and only time one of my country ass friends talked me into accompanying them while they hunted.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oh absolutely, this is a serious problem for some! I've read enough boar attack stories to know they are a legitimate threat. Cougar and wolf attacks are more common in my area, albeit rare overall. But all three animals are all very different than dogs, cats and pigs. Common ancestors sure, but absolutely very different today.

Of course every human has the right to defend themslevss from animal attack. That's just a very different equation than buying bacon at the super market while ignoring the suffering of a pig that never left it's factory farm.

Definitely agree with you, hope I didn’t undermine

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

Not even a little! You have a wonderful evening friend. ♥ 💕

Wild pigs don’t exist though. They’re invasive feral pigs. And eating them is the right thing to do after killing them. And they need to be killed for ecological reasons.

I'm sorry, what?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Hogs, dummy.

Not pigs.

And even hogs are invasive in most of the world.

Try harder.

Ok Timmy, let's go see how meat is made

[–] setsneedtofeed 12 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Come on, let's take a peek at the killing floor.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 11 months ago

Whining cow screams .... whirling blade and machine noises

[–] rindo25 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Don't let the name fool you. It's more of a metal grating.

[–] SkyezOpen 4 points 11 months ago

The first one was good but killing floor 2 really shines. The diverse perks let you fill the same role with different capabilities, talent trees let you further customize your build, and the weapon selection is fantastic.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

I really hope we can evolve past seeing animals as food.

People are so obsessed with the doneness that they forget to give their steak a proper crust

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

You can do that at any doneness, a cast iron heated up for 10 mins will do a perfect sear in a bleu steak

[–] [email protected] 7 points 11 months ago

Ill take my steak, rare enough a good vet could still save it.

[–] froh42 6 points 11 months ago

"Epic" I can do.

In fact there's a bigger version of this meme extending through the other direction of the scale as well

Edit: Found it

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You're just going to tell us you found it and not share the link?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

I found it in my photo roll, actually, and uploaded it directly. Can you not see it?

Here's a link to the forbidden place

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 months ago

That final picture was just on the front page

[–] Chocrates 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I feel like I missed something

[–] [email protected] 5 points 11 months ago

It's based on ironic interpretations of the words "rare" and "well done." The former is a humorously misinterpreted extrapolation of RPG loot tiers, and the latter is based on misunderstanding the phrase to be meant in a congratulatory sense, rather than the extent to which the meat was cooked.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

If those are right, my steaks are very underdone.

[–] _stranger_ 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well, there's "blue rare" too, but also those steak pics are all sharing the same half pixel between them.

[–] AnIntenseMoist 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

what's "blue rare"? Is that like a shiny Pokemon?

[–] _stranger_ 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

essentially raw but seared on the outside.

[–] ShadowGlider 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That just sounds like rare/medium-rare with extra steps.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Actually fewer steps
