Curious to see the impact of lemmies and what we freaks are up to.

For me, I was in the 0.05% of The National (don’t ask lol) which apparently have 5.9M monthly listeners..

My wife was in 0.05% of Mallrat listeners over 1.8M monthly listeners..

Not to imply direct correlation between the two numbers of course.

Top 0.001% of listeners (11.9 million) for ELO with 27,261 minutes. I think I have a problem.

[–] Baahb 3 points 1 year ago

I think you are living right.

Pink Floyd, at ~7,000 minutes. My dad was in the top 0.05% of listeners globally, with a total of ~154,000 minutes. He was in the top 0.005% of Pink Floyd listeners at ~28,000 minutes.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Holy shit!! Hahha!!! This was what I was hoping for!! Hahah!! Amazing! Ur dad is the man!

[–] Knitwear 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

With a mere 243min you can be in the top 2% of Dolly Parton listeners which, tbh, seems low given that she has 16.9M monthly listeners

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Wow.. everyone playing Jolene to the first chorus?

Well this is just for fun and a commute.. not reading anything into it, but that’s right up the drastic tree

[–] Redditgee 3 points 1 year ago

Discovered Emancipator a couple of years ago. So good!

[–] Donjuanme 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nine Inch Nails. Why yes, I was in high school in the 90s, why do you ask?

[–] FlashZordon 6 points 1 year ago

Top 0.5% for Paramore at 2,881 mins. New album year really pumped up those numbers lol. pic

[–] SaakoPaahtaa 6 points 1 year ago (4 children)

How do you guys navigate the UI in such a way you'll actually see anything? On my end the parts have the redundant 20sec intro and then the actual info stays for literally 1 frame before jumping off to the next chapter. Impossible to pause the chapter right at the end.

Wow you made me realise it’s been some years for me (since listening to them). And by some I mean very many! Very cool!

[–] RBWells 4 points 1 year ago

YouTube not Spotify but top 0.01 of Janelle Monae and 1,257 different artists so far in 2023.

[–] preludeofme 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Based on most of the internet at the moment I'm apart of the 0.05% of people that don't use Spotify.

[–] the_stat_man 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Top 0.05% of Dan Bull (just under 3k minutes); 807k monthly listeners.

Also top 4% of listeners overall

[–] slazer2au 3 points 1 year ago

Yellowcard. Saw that one coming.

[–] serpineslair 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Last year I got top 0.01% of Exodus listeners (thrash metal band). 7,031 mins.

This year I got top 0.05% Municipal Waste.

Edit: both bands have around 500,000 monthly listeners if I remember correctly.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Hell yea 🤘

[–] eighty 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

35x the average user! Haha!! That is cool as! Congrats/get some help!!

Hehe.. very cool! So much new music from this post to check out on my commutes. Going to be a roller coaster of up, downs and I’m not sure what’s! Thanks!!

[–] eighty 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Great post idea! A bit misleading cause she's got range from chill (don't)to upbeat/triumphant tunes (kattekekoyoi) for workouts.

Saved this post to refer later ✌️

I think I felt this just a few minutes ago. I was checking out another reply (leprous) but just the ‘popular’ song from the initial mobile view and copied the link thinking I’d post it as a reply but realised, I have no idea if op would roll their eyes or what. Could be a sin for some crowds haha.

If I’d thought the post through it would’ve been so much better haha! I should’ve asked for a link or note of the 1 song u’d give a person to give them the best introduction/chance of opening the door to the artist. Then compiled a public list.

Even a begrudged “genre” would’ve been useful lol.. The way this is I have added a bunch of latest albums of artists in no order. One song I’m going to be in metal mode wanting someone to fight me on public transport to the next song when I’m having the dance party that strokes me out! Haha!!

Got a bit lucky with replies like yours that added the info!

Top 0.05% of Leprous with 8872 minutes. Amazing band!

Top 0.5% overall on spotify. Top 0.001% for Cradle of Filth with 30k minutes.

Edit: (since it was asked in the post) Cradle has 500k monthly listeners

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

0.5% of eluveitie at 1443 minutes, I suppose not too impressive considering 907k monthly listeners. But I'm a varied listener

[–] Exusia 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm in the 0.1% for a guy with 200 monthly listeners. I'm just glad to be part of the crowd.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That dude appreciates it more than most I’m sure!

[–] katkit 3 points 1 year ago

Top 0.001% of listeners (4.4 million) for Max Richter with 50,608 minutes. Top 0,5% of listeners overall with 185,441 minutes.

Not 0.05% but I was top 0.5% of The Strokes listeners who have 12.6M monthly listeners. Not sure what that number can tell you though

Proud 0.05%er of NO MEN!\

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I was in the top 0.1% of the band Remember Sports

Apparently my top genre is bubblegrunge which is a term I've never heard of

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Spotify likes to make up genres. This could be one of them. Last year I had something called "voidgaze" which was made up by them to mash up different types of black and atmospheric metal.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Haha yeah. I understand some music doesn't fall nicely under the classic genres but Spotify's labelling is a bit excessive

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yea. Genres are really only useful in describing your music taste but when no one knows what "bubblegrunge" or "voidgaze" is it kinda defeats the purpose.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Totally agree

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I was top 0.05% for Battle Tapes. it's good shit. Weight of the World is where it's at, but it's all good.
