From a US perspective, lobbying. Seriously, how are we still letting companies buy politicians?! It's 2023 for crying out loud!

This one had bothered me immensely for years. It's just legalized bribery, plain and simple!

For-profit healthcare. >70,000 people die per year in the US because they simply cannot go to the doctor due to price gouging. Many finally find out that they have a disease too late when it is already terminal.

It’s disgusting that healthcare and education industries are commodified.

Come on down to Texas where we have all that plus for-profit prisons, for-profit public transportation, and for-profit public utilities.

Oh man! No thanks! 😂 I’m sorry about your state, friend. It really does feel too far gone for saving. Though I might say that about the entire US, even the state I live in, MA, has its own neoliberal brand of crony capitalism that is more obfuscated but functionally similar. They like to pretend they’re helping you but implement incredibly specific means-testing stipulations. To get MassHealth, for example, you have to make less than $30,000/year (or something crazy like that) in a state where the lowest rent you EVER find is $1200/month for a literal crack den.

Oh it is which is why we are moving. Funny enough we are looking at the New England area.

In the U.S., having insurance cover chiropractor visits, it's insane to me that insurance will pay for quackery like that. For that matter, the degree to which it's just as acceptable as going to the dentist, with the difference being chiropractic practitioners don't go to medical school, and at best provide temporary relief on par with cracking your knuckles, at worst they can kill people.

All of our phones, most of our tech and much clothing is made with children's blood. (A ridiculous amount of cobalt mining is done by children who occasionally die doing it.)

It's wild to me that almost everything you see while walking down the street is made by women and children in sweatshops and worn by people who would never in a million years force someone to do it.

Male circumcision in the US.

How it's still a thing in this day and age is baffling

Christianity, and just indoctrinating a child into religion in general.
