Do you guys have any recommendations for me to switch to? I already subscribed to Gamers Nexus, Hardware Unboxed and JayzTwoCents.

Thanks in advance :)

Ah I would've gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling ads.

XcQ not for you

TheLinuxExperiment does really nice video about tech news, better than TechLinked in every ways.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

+1 for TheLinuxExperiment, most other linux channels have a paranoid vibe to them but this guy's cool

[–] rDrDr 19 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Jayz2Cents is awful. Please don't watch that stuff. They're so long winded and lacking in... actual information. Add Digital Foundry, Hardware Canucks.

So a good replacement for LLT then? /s. But seriously, that's not what his channel is about.

My two absolute favourites right now

Bringus Studios - this is pretty close to classic LTT episodes (he did "I bought a SEGA PC?!?!?!!" before Linus did) and often involves trying to upgrade hardware that wasn't designed to be upgraded or installing software on systems not meant for it (turning a PS4 into a steam deck for example) all with a delightful layer of jank to it So kinda like the videos with Jake

A little more different but equally brilliant channel is

MattKC - his most popular video is him trying to get a game to fit into a qr code (brilliant) but also extends to him buying and fixing a Wii he bought for 1$ in Japan or trying to build the fastest Windows 98 compatible PC and modding old consoles So kinda like the videos with Alex

Digital Foundry does really great deep-dives on the software side of things. A channel like GamersNexus is great for getting a sense for how a new CPU or GPU stacks up to other models. DF is great for looking at game performance in a specific title, and which settings to tweak for optimized performance with various graphics cards.

Edit: and they do the same for major console titles, plus cross-platform and cross-gen comparisons.

Technology Connections too

[–] tippl 5 points 1 year ago

Only recently discovered CRD, but he's quickly becoming my favorite channel. He's doing the exact kind of deep dives into obscure tech topics that i love.

Second this

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago

I love Derbauer.

Brodie Robertson for Linux/Software content.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Another +1 for Brodie. We need more Linux content! I got to do an interview with him recently and that was a lot of fun.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

+1 for brodie

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

TechMoan is always a fun watch

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Same with the 8-Bit Guy and LGR.

For more of the entertainment cool shit side of LTT, I love DIY Perks. He does a lot of really cool techy builds

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

I can't believe no one mentioned MrMobile. I really enjoy his format and editing style. He mostly does phone and watch reviews, but sometimes sprinkle in laptops, and his When Phones were Fun series were awesome.

LowSpecGamer originally does what the channel name suggests, low spec hardware reviews and game on them with jank methods. However, he has since privated his previous videos, and transitioned to history and stories behind tech products.

One other channel that is more to the side of tech "explanation" is Technology Connections. The subjects of his videos are not necessarily "tech" we see in tech channels, but more appliance tech and the history or how it works. His channel is caption friendly too!

Hardware Canucks for other Canadian tech news

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Hardware Canucks is very good for peripheral reviews. Haven’t watched them in a hot minute since I’ve been happy with my audio and mouse/keyboard setup, but they go the extra step of doing things like showing recordings from different headsets and how well a mouse glides.

Level1techs, Chris Titus, Servethehome, Craft computing, Lawrence systems, 8-bit guy, look mom no computer, Mark Rober, Austin Evans, mkbhd, ijustine, jerryrigeverything, technology connections.

Those I could come up with relatively fast without checking my subscriptions in freetube.

Also some rocket tech because rockets are cool:

Pbs space, Xyla Foxlin, air command rockets, everyday astronaut, Scott Manley, Marcus House

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i can't express how much i love technology connections

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Technology connections is literally the best YouTube channel ever.

RandomGamingInHD is pretty neat. Like seeing people push real budget stuff to its absolute limits. LowSpecGamer used to be my go to for that, but it seems he completely changed thr channels directions and purged the old videos.

LGR and 8-bit Guy both do a lot of cool stuff with old and obsolete hardware.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Mental Outlaw for Linux/privacy stuff for sure. Dude has some hot takes and has been focusing a bit more on his farm at the moment but he's got some good topics

[–] forvirreth 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I love OptimumTech. Mostly focused on SFF builds and peripherals and setup-minimalism. However Ali has a very relaxing voice and entirely drama free

[–] drkhrse96 3 points 1 year ago

Definitely Optimum Tech. Love all of the small form factor builds and his coverage of mice and keyboards is also great.

TechAltar is the best one

[–] bitKraken 5 points 1 year ago

Some of my favorites (that I have not seen listed here yet)

  • Snazzy Labs
  • TechAltar
  • The Friday Checkout (alternative to Techlinked)

Tech Iceberg and RandomGaminginHD

(What can I say, the British accent adds like 50 points to my rubric

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Phil’s Computer Lab if you want to see someone reviewing DOS, Win9x and XP era hardware.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

You have the two best already… GN for quality reviews and Jayz for “We’re making a thing today, let’s see what happens.”

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Here's a small Brazilian tech channel that I really like
