Because sadly we live in a society, and normal names are required for the functioning of society.

Au contraire, the environment is our gift to our children. Or do we leave them with wanton destruction instead?

I figure only nerds know this but back when Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat was a Suruhanjaya, its acronym SPAD was actually very ironic because its also the acronym for when trains run the red light: signal passed at danger.

Oh hey, it's a repeat from a certain political rally in 1939 in that same venue!

TIL Province Wellesley (Seberang Prai) was named after the guy who later became Duke of Wellington, the guy who defeated Napoleon.

And it was not random, he and a boatload of soldiers stopped at Penang while on a naval mission.

Sorry guys, I tried to find an article online that goes more into the historic aspects of the Hungry Ghosts Festival as celebrated here in Malaysia, but literally everything focuses on the now, since this is very much a living experience. I am adamant of posting something about it today regardless, since today's the peak of Ghost Month for those who celebrate it.

General articles on the hungry Ghost Festival:

tl;dr

  1. ‘Incantation’ (2022)
  2. ‘The Maid’ (2005)
  3. ‘Rigor Mortis’ (2013)
  4. ‘Noroi: The Curse’ (2005)
  5. ‘Roh’ (2019)
