As a guy, I've gotten compliments from het men plenty of times, and there was never any confusion about whether they were hitting on me. And I'm in the military, and it was coworkers most times. "Nice haircut, where do you go? You do it yourself! Wow, nicely done!" "Nice shirt, looking good! You got plans after work or something?"

I am not a particularly attractive guy, either. I really wonder what circles all the guys that either don't get compliments or get awkward about compliments (like in this comic) run in.

Still a funny comic, not a criticism. Women are definitely way more open with their compliments to each other.

I stopped believing this when a man complimented another man.

psh i'll compliment a guy and leave it totally ambiguous.

[–] chuckleslord 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'll compliment a man and French kiss him. Totally ambiguous.

it's the frenchness. it's ambiguous because it's french :3

I've literally never gotten a compliment from a friend. I would find it quite weird if I did.

I updated my profile pic on teams with a professional shot after a fresh shave and a button down.

I'm normally unshaven and in gaming t shirts.

Needless to say I got lots of compliments from both guys and girls in meetings on "cleaning up good" and "looking fresh"

Felt good.

It would be way less weird if they said:

"Hey man. You look like absolute dogshit, bro."

[–] Shardikprime 4 points 4 hours ago

Yeah this person has never seen men interacting with each other

What, you women have never met a straight man before!? We honk each others' dongs all the time! It's called being interested in your friends!!!

Nothing wrong with a brojob between buddies.

Idk, in my friend group it's 50-50 for... "Hey, you look less like shit today, did you get a nose job?"

Or

"Good lord, stay away from me with that new haircut. I'm already nursing a semi!"

The dichotomy of man

Now I'm just imaging a breast feeding semi-truck

Jokes on you, me and my friends just straight up flirt as compliments like "HOLY SHIT! Who is this hot dude?"

[–] [email protected] 46 points 10 hours ago

Was just going to say that this really depends on you and your friends. Got one friend group that is all about cuddling drunk, giving shoulder massages and complimenting each other. Got another that is more about board games and being sure feet don't touch accidentally under the table. All friends are valid <3

I'm so glad I have actually good friends we can compliment and joke around without feeling uncomfortable ahah.

We have toxic masculinity to thank for that.

Obligatory screw the patriarchy

I'll drink to that. I can't do anything with my male friend without feeling like I have to make these kind of statements after complimenting them on anything. This shit is so internalized. If i have children someday, I will not be teaching them to be like this.

You wanna be touchy freely with your best guy friends, and its not sexual go right ahead. I should be able to give my friends hugs and not feel like it's a weird thing to do.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 hours ago

You can't do much about your friend's haircut, but she's got a couple of ways of getting into that underwear.

Just sayin'.

I feel like this person doesn't know any women or men.

[–] GreenKnight23 3 points 6 hours ago
