And all of the ways Musk will see consequences:
politics
Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

This attitude is exactly the reason there are no consequences.
If it was from someone other than me you'd be right. I don't exactly have the power to enforce consequences.
No, it's exactly what I mean. It's not about enforcing consequences, but expecting and demanding them. Trump has learned he can get away with everything during his first term, as he said some of the most heinous shit imaginable and people were like "he be like that"
How am I supposed to demand them?
Umm he isn’t going to see consequences (without a revolution) because Trump can pardon him for federal crimes.
Law Professor Arrested, Musk Says ''It's Illegal To Point Out My Illegal Acts''
The fucking cynicism to put shit like this behind a paywall
Notice how nobody is fired because it's illegal as they are attempting this They are working to intimidate them into voluntarily quitting on principle and for those that refuse, they put them on indefinite PAID leave - no value from their expertise AND still paying for it, plus the cost of the chaos on top - financial and human costs.
If we somehow survive this moment, a legitimate justice system will also be devastated by hundreds of thousands of labor lawsuits with strong cases as to why they are deserved settlements for lost opportunity, stress, etc. Make no mistake that this is a part of it, the longer we wait to stand up against this the larger the untold number of poison pills hidden throughout our systems will be. Bobby traps to weigh down decent people for decades to come, should the republicans somehow peacefully leave office one day (highly unlikely)
There are some people who need a reminder that the alternative to the rule of law isn't plutocrats being able to act with impunity, it's vigilantism and mob justice.
"Hi, yes, Mr Washington? What are we supposed to do if Congress, the President, and the Senate are all in for a coup?"
No cop. No crime. (I have some really bad news on the fate of the entire American Experiment the first time Trump ignores a direct court order and the Executive Branch is found in contempt of the Legislative Branch)
If the law isn't being enforced, then he's not breaking anything.
No, he’s still breaking the law. I get what you’re saying, but he’s still breaking the law.
the law does not exist if there is no mechanism to enforce it, literally not worth the paper it's printed on, it no longer becomes a law, just some words written on a page with a signature on it
You say 'exist' to mean 'is enforceable'. I know we live in a world where 'figurative' means its own actual antonym, but those two ideas do not overlap perfectly at all.
It would be a much shorter list to say how many way's he's not breaking the law.
"The LAW? Hahaha! What did 'the law' do for Felix. Fuckin. Finch!?"
