Even inside the Harris campaign, there was dissent about whether she needed to take a more aggressive stance for Gaza.

A Harris organizer who worked on youth turnout said that senior campaign officials gave them an order: When they sent out mass volunteer or fundraising emails and people replied by asking about Gaza, they were told to mark it as “no response.” The result? They seldom ended up engaging with voters on that issue.

“We also didn’t create a new category for Gaza responses out of fear that category would be leaked. Instead we were told to mark them as ‘no response,’” the organizer said, faulting top Harris campaign leaders for failing to address the issue. “The only ‘clowns’ out there are those who were in senior leadership and decided to abdicate on this issue, who silenced a Palestinian speaker at the DNC, and who told us to ignore it every time a voter asked us about Gaza.”

The corporate media is trying to divide the left. Don't let them. Fuck this relitigation of the election. There's blame on both sides, but it's water under the bridge at this point. Fuck fascists and their tactics of division.

[–] gAlienLifeform 19 points 4 days ago

I don't think it's been corporate media posting a bunch of stupid and antagonizing bullshit to c/politicalmemes

Also, the last three elections in a row at least have all had moderate Dems who refuse to listen to their voters and do whatever their donors want and then go on to lose or barely win against this fascist prick, and I really really really don't want to go through another one of those elections. We need to have a thorough examination of how the Democratic party has been fucking us here and concrete verifiable steps they will take to stop this, otherwise the left is going to remain divided whether or not corporate media is reporting on it.

If we don’t understand why we failed and change the party accordingly, how will we ever win next time?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago

The party is also controlled by corporate interests because money is the most important thing in politics now. To change the party you will need many, many millions of dollars. Don't have that? Gee sucks to not be a billionaire. 🤷

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There's not going to be a next time. You can't vote out fascism.

[–] atomicorange 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Then why does it matter if the left is divided? Not like the milquetoast liberals are going to be any help against fascists. They’ll start goosestepping with the rest of them once the writing’s on the wall.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

It doesn't, really.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"we" did not fail. We did everything right, but the result was bad.

And the corporate funders of the DNC didn't fail; they're richer now than they were before. They got exactly what they wanted.

[–] atomicorange 3 points 3 days ago

The left failed to prevent a fascist takeover. Maybe we never had the power to prevent it, but how the hell do you know that if you’re unwilling to examine what happened? I want the enemies of fascism to get their shit together, but that requires discussing and admitting we did NOT do “everything right”. What a ridiculous thing to assert!

Liberals are not the left. Either the Democrats get their stuff together and listen to the demands of the left, or they will lose once again in 2028.

Yeah, great, both the undecided people are idiots with a idiot plan and the Harris campaign were idiots with an idiot plan.

By your stupidity combined we get president neo-Nazi.

Great job guys. Hit the showers and stubbornly not learn a good damn thing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

When the choice is genocide or genocide the result would always be president Nazi.

[–] inclementimmigrant 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah and continuing to sit out or voting Republicans will surely make the change you're looking for happen.

Just as long as you're content with your decisions and accept that the reality of your consequences and that whatever happens going forward your actions helped cause it.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

At one point you need to draw a red line in the sand and say I will not participate in the problem. A distinct lack of morality can be observed.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Thanks to you, many people, self included, are planning on leaving the country since we are no longer recognized as people by the federal government.

Thanks to you, eggs are $15 a dozen

Thanks to you, teachers are absolutely horrified by what they're being told to do

Thanks to you, immigrants everywhere are living in fear, even in their own homes, regardless of legal status

Thanks to you, Apartheid Hitler has everyone's social security information

Thanks to you, they're building concentration camps at GitMo

Thanks to you, formerly eradicated diseases are making a comeback. Enjoy polio!

Thanks to you, skilled women, BIPOC, and disabled workers everywhere are losing their jobs to actual DEI hires

So yeah, thanks for that. You're responsible for this. But at least Gaza is saved right?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Democrats already destroyed Gaza.

[–] inclementimmigrant 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Good luck with that.

Thanks but I'll continue voting in every election, every primary, for every progressive despite how tiring and disappointing it can be and not throw away the progress made. Provided we can still do that after another four years.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Progress? What progress have you made?

Your strategy only leads to regression. That much should be clear to anyone observing history for the last decades.

[–] inclementimmigrant 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

You don't see progress so be it. I'm not about to tell you what you perceive, I'm not going to change your mind here. I'm glad to see that there's even something called The Squad in congress but clearly you don't. So feel free to continue to not vote, not make difference at all, make no progress.

This is where we part ways on this conversation. Good luck with things going forward and the choices you made and will make and have a good day.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The "undecided" people were always decided. Decided against genocide, always were, always will be. You want them to learn ... learn what, exactly?

We all told Harris how to win and she refused to take our advice. Even now she can't admit that she screwed up... Or maybe she actually believed her pro-genocide stance was a good one, and if so, good riddance.

[–] inclementimmigrant 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Really, decided against genocide so they campaigned to let a neo Nazi win. That's some solid reasoning there, maybe learn to not cut off your nose to spite your face.

As for Harris, yeah, her and the Democrats should learn to listen to the people but if you seriously think she was pro-genocide, well there's no point in even taking at that juncture.

Either way, y'all made your choices, you cast your vote, you didn't have to deal with Harris any more, good luck dealing with Trump and how receptive he and his administration will be.

[–] hark 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

As for Harris, yeah, her and the Democrats should learn to listen to the people but if you seriously think she was pro-genocide, well there’s no point in even taking at that juncture.

If she wasn't pro genocide, then it should've been easy for her to speak out against genocide, right?

Either way, y’all made your choices, you cast your vote, you didn’t have to deal with Harris any more, good luck dealing with Trump and how receptive he and his administration will be.

Again, how receptive was Harris? Clearly there was no choice when it came to genocide. If something as horrific as genocide is non-negotiable, what makes you think either political party cares to work for the people on any other heavily lobbied issue?

[–] inclementimmigrant -2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Then clearly there was no choice for you. So be it, deal with the consequences now and accept the hand you dealt.

[–] hark 2 points 3 days ago

There was no choice for anyone. The situation was already getting worse and worse in Palestine and yet you think "trump is going to make it worse" was some sort of difference maker. You're running the same disingenuous line that democrats do, which is when they're in power they claim they're working on it but also that it's out of their hands, but when they're out of power they blame voters. It's apparently never the fault of democrats. You think after over a year of democrats doing jack and shit that somehow they'd do any better after getting reelected.

Please don't think you can fool anyone by claiming they were working towards a ceasefire when they were actively supplying billions in weapons during these "negotiations". Do not think you can fool anyone by claiming that democrats were holding back israel by delaying just a single shipment of weapons while letting the rest through (which was already more than enough of what they needed to "get the job done"). There's a saying about that and george bush, war criminal and dear friend of the democrats, put it so eloquently here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl7FKfl3O2Y

For the record, I voted for harris, but I'm not stupid enough to think she would've made any difference because she indicated as much on the campaign trail during a critical election. The campaign trail is when politicians make promises they don't keep and yet she couldn't even be bothered to lie about caring.

[–] IndustryStandard 13 points 4 days ago

So the Harris campaign not only ignored, but actively lied about the voter feedback they received on Gaza...

[–] fluxion 12 points 4 days ago

Harris left a vacuum by not visiting Michigan families impacted by US-supplied bombs to help create a permission structure for their trust while Trump visited Dearborn and filled a community in despair with lies

"One of these things is not like the other."
