When you want the feel of bathing outdoors, but with a greater sense of privacy.

At least until you see there's a big window peering right through into that space, lmao

I mean, you should probably have curtains or something anyway. Sometimes you gotta be able to walk around your house nekkid.

These other pictures make it seem really charming. But I don't get why in one picture it's on a wooden platform, but not the other.

It is 100% a better use of that space than a dead tree and rocks/mulch like most of the other ones.

I grew up in a house with an atrium but unfortunately my parents trimmed down and ultimately killed the trees that used to grow in there. I think their concerns were the roots and the foundation.

Trees will always win that fight.

This would be the perfect home for my wife's birds. Plop down some trees; install a small pond. Definitely better than a cage.

Seems covered in plastic. I would guess it is not installed.

I think it's pretty cool actually. I'd have shit tons of plants and make it feel peaceful.

Just wondering why you can see out into the backyard from there though, that's the weird part.

I would love that. I live in Japan and have considered trying to build an outdoor bath in the future since we enjoy going to them at hotsprings.

I mean that’s 1 more soaking tub than I have nowz

And 1 more place to put a soaking tub than I have now.

Not familiar with Huston but price against size seems about right nowadays... It's so gross.

In my area, houses 1/4 smaller were selling for 60-100k and then 3 years later are $300k... No cool atriums either! We don't do that up north though, I'd imagine it sucks for wasting heat.

Texas traditionally had cheap housing (as in price per floor area) and makes up for it on the property tax side. I haven't lived there in a dozen years now, so not sure what things look like today.

Not gonna lie... I want that.

This is clearly a house still under construction/refurbishment. The floors look newly installed, there is loose wiring hanging from the ceiling for a new fan/lighting fixture, the frame on the biggest window isn't painted yet, I think I still see scratch protection film on the sliding glass doors, and the tub is still covered in plastic. I highly doubt the intention is to leave it and install it there. Almost certainly, it is just sitting out of the way while they installed new flooring before they bring it in the to the bathroom for install. Someone else in the comments posted another photo where you can see it is sitting on cardboard too.

Edit: I actually opened the listing and saw the description and more photos. I stand corrected. Bafflingly, this was the final spot for that tub, it was intentional and they are advertising it like a cool feature. Smh. Still don't know why it is covered in plastic wrap.

Did you read the description in the link?

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

No. Didn't see that they were specifically advertising that as a feature. Well ok then. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but they are clearly morons. Still not sure why it is covered in plastic wrap.

Gonna make the world's worst water balloon.
