Still not sure why it is covered in plastic wrap.

Gonna make the world's worst water balloon.

Patch notes

Highly abbreviated summary:
New story mission chain.
Further additions to biome assets, new star system type with different styles of terrain generation.
Many QOL updates.

It's nice and sort of funny to see that they've restored water to some planets' moons. Wild to think it's been maybe around 8(?!) years since that was abruptly removed. Always get some mixed vibes from No Man's Sky updates due to this awkward back and forth between removing and restoring parts.

When you want the feel of bathing outdoors, but with a greater sense of privacy.

At least until you see there's a big window peering right through into that space, lmao

One day an up and coming tv newscaster gets pressed into playing a part in a variety show, and as he's arguing with its writer he has an accident. Next thing he knows he can't hold back saying what's on his mind.

From there he finds himself confiding in and working with the writer to try to figure out how to work with his new condition. Gradually they fall for one another, and to his surprise he remains and becomes even more successful than he was before.

It's a pretty charming show with an interesting angle on the stresses of socially masking to make one's way through life.

[...] there was just a little more non-political content to help dilute it due to the larger user-base.

There was/is a lot more and that's one of the various reasons the different Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed sites haven't swayed people over yet. There's far more people around here replying to posts like this and news posts, as well as creating news/politics/"dry" posts or find-anywhere-fare like memes/shitposts than much else.

It's why recently I've tried posting more than media news links to a few of the different entertainment communities. Around here you really have to post/comment on what you want to see more than on the big corporate sites.

An extended report on the psychological and physical abuse that occurred at now defunct Brandoville Studios, an outsourcing studio used by many major game studios (e.g. Naughty Dog, Ubisoft, etc.), in Indonesia.

A solid example of where work reform is needed.

I know next to nothing of pottery/ceramics, so I'm hopeful this may pick up with people that do know more about it!

If you find yourself wondering where to ask for advice and the like, you may ask around [email protected], where other people working on communities collaborate. Best of luck!

The truth is that the tunnel posted this.

The lurking downvoter, more astounding when they don't appear than when they do. 😂

It's very much a children's show, but it's pretty good for some short lighthearted nonsense when you're feeling the need for it. Easily the best part is how they play around with Zozo being a zombie, leading to some absolutely depraved yet somehow still child-friendly gags.

Reminds me a little of some of the ol' Aah! Real Monsters and Invader Zim moments.

Finished this awhile ago and enjoyed it a lot. It felt different from other thrillers I've seen as the suspect was more bold and eclectic. The inspector is sort of your usual eccentric type, but she plays it up well and has a good backstory to ground her.

Also I can't get over how much I enjoy the soundtrack. It's a great mixture of styles that all complement the show fantastically. The song Up (3:12) in particular is great even apart from the show. However I think it was Collapse (4:18) that really drove me to give the soundtrack more attention.

Highly recommend checking out the show and soundtrack.

Sort of, it's because a lot of microblogging software doesn't have the same post format with title/post body. The current workaround for microblog to Lemmy and similar is to format it like this:

first line title

second or more lines post body

@[email protected]

#hashtags if desired

Great photo for sure!

Appreciate this post OP, as I've wondered similar at times when not wanting to fuss with another machine for self-hosting (as often it's not the case that I could run the server software on my main system).

I'd go with this, and look into each and read a little about them to see if the art styles and stories interest you and dig in from there, rather than approaching it as a wholly cohesive series.

Personally I liked the original movie and the Stand Alone Complex/2nd Gig series, but didn't care as much for Arise (the OVA cut). Can't speak to other parts as I haven't seen them.

I only just watched this last year and it was such a fun movie that still holds up pretty well. If you're down with super-strong anime girls kicking ass, then you might enjoy this a bunch.

I remember being kinda down and this being a nice pick-me-up as I was trying to find something to watch.

I fell for the cover art's goofiness with this one, and I'm happy I did. It's a quirky show about a small town veterinarian that suddenly finds herself with psychic powers after treating an animal one night and being "hit" by a falling star.

However her powers only work by touching the butt of other animals...And people.

This leads to all manner of silly situations and it's a pretty fun watch. It also has an undercurrent of a thriller at play that does a pretty decent job at keeping it interesting. Although if you're the overthinking type it's not too hard to pick out what's going on, but it's also not too bad at trying to keep you guessing.

Always enjoy an occasional history video.

It's cool to see a show like this that, while maybe still aimed more at teens than adults, is stubbornly optimistic. Threads the needle between serious and lighthearted just so that it's neither too heavy nor light.

In some ways the whole vibe of it reminds me of a more grounded Gurren Lagann, which is a major compliment as Gurren Lagann is also a stellar series in my opinion.

I'm still not sure what I think of it, but it kept my attention. The basic premise is somewhat strange, where basically they spin national court (pseudo-Supreme Court?) cases into a media circus and ask the people across the country to vote on the verdicts.

The lead judge begins turning this against big business leaders and others ramping up the series as it goes along.

He and his rival are constantly portrayed as eerily sociopathic, which makes it all the more captivating. They also happen to have, in my opinion, some great costuming for both of them.

Fairly interesting video about a tiny transitional hamlet, if even that.

For those of us here for awhile, there's a good chance we've adjusted our settings and built up blocklists that distance us from new people's experience of these sites, so we gotta remember and work the Defaults.

One example of this is the sorting method. Most Lemmy instances stay with the default Active sort, which means the posts that many are seeing are those being voted on a bunch and receiving comments.

What this means for those trying to build communities is partly what one may already have thought of, make posts that inspire discussion, but another part that one may fumble, which is to reply to whatever comments that may appear.

This may be a little part to why some communities struggle to get others involved. Posts may be getting upvoted, but without any comments they may not be as widely seen or gain as much traction as they otherwise could with the way Active sort works.

Interestingly Mbin and Piefed appear to default to Hot for their sorting method, which if it's like Lemmy's Hot sort, may be a little more helpful in surfacing some communities' posts.

That's just one example though, what other Default details do you try to keep in mind as you try to get communities going?
