Aah, that may explain it! I thought it might be best to check logged out for a better sense of how search worked, so was searching logged out.

I checked on a different up to date instance (lemm.ee) knowing that, and confirmed it was federated with the relevant community, but didn't see those results.

Strangely enough I can't replicate similar results searching lemmy.ml either, so not sure what's going on. 🤔

Thanks!

Regarding community search, sorry for the lack of clarity. I dropped a clear example when revising, I was referring to searching for a community by the form "videos@\sopuli.xyz", note the missing ! from the start.

Maybe that's more of an edge case?

More like reply to posts without regard for its host community. In other words, context collapse where the community is the main context.

Nice! Something a little unclear: do feed owners/creators also have to be subscribed to their curated communities?

Great feature whatever the case!

Anime? May have to look into that! Personally I went in with minimum expectations and loved it. It has some light RPG attribute allocation junk that I didn't care for as it felt a little tacked on (and I don't like RPG stat/progression systems on the best of days), but besides that I enjoyed it a ton.

It narratively integrates its whole gameplay loop, since it's a timeloop game, which is what made it really click for me. Toss that narrative framing out (or don't care for it) and you may not like it as much.

The more I think about it the more I think they chose the perfect type of game for a timeloop narrative, since a well-designed visual novel allows you to rapidly skip through repetitious elements. All this said, since there are several characters, some are much less developed than others and make it a drag at some points as you try to work things out, but there were still enough written and developed well that made up for that in my opinion.

Not sure either. It's a fork of Vircadia, which on some more digging says it was built off High Fidelity, so maybe this is accurate.

Great steps! Non-invasive methods may be preferable, but restoration of sensation is restoration.

Congrats! Probably late for it now, but I think the title and short description in the shot weren't helping much. Covers content and features well but doesn't describe the gameplay clearly nor a unique selling point.

Digging in to the store page it's clearer and does sound pretty fun though! Also always appreciate a demo!

Oh! I mistook it as a continuation of the general store example, as I haven't been to a physical IKEA store (there aren't any all that nearby).

Today I'm learning many little things! (Some stuff going on so between here and watching Attenborough documentaries.)

By now I've mostly (I think) gotten used to some of Lemmy's quirks, but one caught me a little off guard a moment ago related to the search. Admittedly I was trying to be a little lazy, but I think that's fortuitous as many likely take this approach.

I was trying to search to see if a video was posted here before posting it, as I try to avoid making repeat posts especially in the same community.

So I went to search with the default search settings, copied the video's url into the search and ran it.

Despite the default search type being All, which I think many would expect to include searching by all types (posts/comments/communities/users/url), it seems to exclude url. I found this out as I saw only one comment with the video url and no posts, and so went ahead and posted only to see afterward all the cross-posts to other communities.

In a similar way, searching with the All setting for communities feels clunky, as if one searches by a community name without an exclamation mark, it will only show up as mentioned in comments (if it's been mentioned). There's no sort of fuzzy search to have a direct link to the community display in the results.

These are just a couple stumbling blocks in the default web UI that have been around for awhile, but caught my attention again.

Remembered there was documentation, and understood it a little better this time around!

TwoLineJoy explainerdecided to try out this idea of tagging posts here with potential community idea to test the waters and put to practice using General as an incubator/launchpad for other communities.

also TwoLineJoy is a spin off of TwoSentenceHorror, including how posts may be pleasant mini-fictions. Join in if you like and maybe someone could try making it into a new community!

The Trump administration has not fully complied with a court order pausing the freezing of foreign assistance grants and contracts, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Amir Ali last week ordered the administration to allow the disbursement of U.S. foreign assistance after hearing claims from federal contractors challenging an executive order signed by President Donald Trump pausing nearly all foreign assistance.

I still don't know what I think of it after recently finishing it, but it was...Interesting.

It takes on the usual UFO narrative of someone being abducted and returned but not being able to entirely recall what happened. However it then jumps ahead to their adulthood and how that experience is having a continued impact on their relationships.

personal interpretation asideThen it spins into reuniting with a childhood friend who as the show goes on I like to think was really their unrealized girlfriend, so the show almost reads as lesbian paranormal investigators.

Tourists climbing Sicily's Mount Etna volcano at night in sneakers and light clothing to get a close-up view of an ongoing eruption may be risking their lives, rescuers warned on Friday.

For centuries, poets, scholars and theologians have flocked to Chinguetti, a trans-Saharan trading post home to more than a dozen libraries containing thousands of manuscripts.

But it now stands on the brink of oblivion. Shifting sands have long covered the ancient city’s 8th-century core and are encroaching on neighborhoods at its current edge. Residents say the desert is their destiny.

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk once turned down half a million dollars in future royalties from the popular video game Pro Skater — and he says it was the “best financial decision” of his life.

Hawk was offered $500,000 in a one-time buyout deal for use of his name and likeness for Activision’s Pro Skater title, which was released in 1999.

Swedish authorities said on Friday they were investigating a damaged cable that was discovered in the Baltic Sea, the latest in a string of recent incidents of ruptured undersea cables that have heightened fears of Russian sabotage and spying in the region.

The breakage was found on a cable that runs between Germany and Finland off the island of Gotland, south of Stockholm, in the Swedish economic zone, the news agency TT reported Friday. The Coast Guard was responding to the site.

South Korea finalised on Friday a new energy mix plan that envisages the construction of two new large-scale nuclear power plants and one small nuclear power reactor by 2038, the country's industry ministry said.

The plan also aims to secure renewable energy accounting for an average of 7 gigawatts (GW) per year by 2030, the ministry said in a statement.
