Instead of supporting DeSantis on one of his signature issues, lawmakers are holding their own special session this week to support President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda, which they’re calling the “Tackling and Reforming Unlawful Migration Policy (TRUMP) Act.”

Totally normal country, definitely not a banana republic.

Ah, getting closer to a ceaușescu hunting bear situation.

I'm not sure what you mean by that analogy.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

Sorry. I meant a scenario where there is a strong man at the helm of the nation and everyone bends over backwards trying to please him.

Ceaușescu was a comunist dictator that famously (or infamously) hunted bears. And often, somehow he hunted more bears than he shot them. As everyone was eager to find a bear (or more) that their fierce leader had shot.

That's what I meant.

There's a Behind the bastards episode on him. As there will be one for Trump, probably in some dystopic future surrounded by radioactive rubble.

I don't know either but it sure sounds smart.

Not really positive news. Just DeSantis getting his regularly scheduled reminder that he is never going to be the MAGA standard bearer because he has the personality of a wet blanket, making him unqualified to be leader of the cult.

“Sometimes leadership isn’t about being out in front of an issue,” Albritton told colleagues. “It’s about following the leader you trust. I trust President Trump.”

"Sometime leadership is fealty to an authoritarian."

Wait until he goes completely insane and has the entire Cuban community in Miami swept up by ICE.
