I already have Nova Premium (my preferred launcher) which is what people have recommending. Was thinking of getting Stardew Valley since it's only $5 but I did some research and apparently the mobile version is a bit out of date, idk.

not 100% relevant to the post but do not use nova they got bought out by an ad/tracking company and shouldn't be trusted to be a launcher

damn, thats a bummer, time to try out some FOSS launchers :(

any recommendations? I basically just need screen shortcuts, folders, and notification icons would be nice. also maybe pages but I could do without that with folders

I use lawnchair launcher if you're willing to use a beta version from a project that may or may not be dead and hasn't been updated in like half a year unfortunately the up to date version isn't on the playstore I don't think and I don't remember where you can find the up to date version sorry :(

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Looks nice, I'll check it out! Hopefully it can be forked and continued one day

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Lawnchair 2 is on F-Droid

What 😭😭😭 any alt recommendations?

I've developed a minimalist launcher in case you want to try something different.

Slay the Spire is a fantastic roguelike deckbuilding game, and I think the mobile version is around that pricepoint

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Hmm, I'm not usually into deckbuilding games, but that does seem like something perfect for touchscreens

You can rent a movie through Google Play. I do that can't find the movie I want to watch on any of the streaming services I'm subscribed to.

Stardew Valley is a great choice, if you are into gaming maybe some of the android ports for GTA? Like GTA 3 or Vice City.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

I already have the classic GTA games on steam, plus I tried the mobile ports when they first came out and I could NOT deal with the touch controls.

Think I'll just go with Stardew if I cant find anything else, since I doubt I'll ever buy it on desktop and these kind of daily grind simulators are great for mobile

AppOps: It's a permissions manager that lets you grant apps "fake permissions". Basically, it makes an app think it has a certain permission, but when it tries to use it it doesn't get any data.

It's very hard to pirate, and root is not required :) It costs 3.00$

Also consider checking out Poweramp, It's one of the best local music players out there (1.00$)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

ooh, AppOps sounds nice +1

although I am already using the premier audio player: foobar2000 :D

Both pc and mobile Stardew Valley are on version 1.5. At one point mobile didn't have the 1.5 update, but that got sorted out a while ago. It's a great game, I'd recommend getting it! :)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's reassuring! I'll probably end up with Stardew Valley then :D

[–] owenfromcanada 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, the 1.5 update took a while, but it's there now and it's great!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Dope, and it seems like the perfect kind of mobile game to play for like 15 minutes at a time.

[–] owenfromcanada 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, the game is played in days, and saves after each day. 15 minutes is probably around what you'd end up doing for most days (good luck putting it down though).

If you're the kind of person who already bought Nova then you probably already have it as well but look into Tasker just in case you haven't heard about it yet.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Tasker

oh damn thats dope, I'm usually not into automated stuff but that seems cool

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Stardew Valley is great even if it's out of date (though I'm not a huge fan of the interface on mobile)

Minecraft is also great on Android these days

Consider grabbing the DLCs for Vampire Survivors, because that game deserves the $5 they don't ask for on mobile.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Oh damn, I didn't realize it was on Android OR free. thanks!

Magic research is idle game crack. I have been playing it a lot.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Is that the same one thats on steam? Looks a lot more fun than other idle games I've checked out

Buy some icon packs for Nova. I'm using Linex, and liked Lines, Min, Minoir. aCalendar, Another Widget is amazing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Look through the apps you already have and see if there's a premium version of whatever you got

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I did and they're all subscription based :(
