Summary

A federal appeals court upheld the $5 million verdict against Donald Trump for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll.

The ruling rejected Trump’s request for a new trial, affirming evidence such as testimony from other accusers and the 2005 Access Hollywood tape showing a pattern of misconduct.

Trump was found liable in 2023 for sexually assaulting Carroll in the 1990s and defaming her in 2022. Carroll’s attorney welcomed the decision.

Trump, who denies the allegations, is also appealing a separate $83.3 million defamation verdict. Legal proceedings will continue into his second presidency.

She'll probably be imprisoned next year.

[–] TipRing 62 points 3 days ago (4 children)

He is already talking about it. He is threatening to imprison her for "false accusations".

Hopefully she, Stormy Daniels, and whoever else is in his crosshairs can be given asylum in Canada or some other reasonable country. Though they will probably require the equivalent of witness protection, since there are bloodthirsty Trump fanatics up there too.

They really knew what they were doing when they were making the latest season of handmaid's tale.

Is that like the next to last stop before 'thoughtcrimes,' or...?

[–] RaoulDook 5 points 3 days ago

Should be pretty hard to prove "false accusations" when her court record stands as an affirmative defense to the opposite.

We’re about to find out if law enforcement and our court system will follow through with punishment entirely based on false accusations and a manchild’s sad litter temper tantrums.

Trump is a piece of human shit. He is an excellent representative of the majority of American voters. (Note I am an American.)

Quick question, is it technically rape if your dick has never worked?

[–] [email protected] 24 points 3 days ago

The technical definitions of rape are probably more broadly applicable than the "common sense" definitions which often include assumptions like PiV or violence (depending on the individual applying their common sense).

To take your question far too literally.
