Maybe try not being neoliberals and building an economy that rewards honest labor over speculative, insider info laden, increasingly abstract (credit default swaps, stock shorting, etc) GAMBLING, and never at the expense of those that need help the most.

It hasn't been tried in living memory.

But we all know you'll be back in two years promising to protect our beloved ~~society~~ economy.

Corporate enslavement, but with rainbow ribbons. Better than literal murdererous fascists, sure, but that's like saying be content being led by a murderer instead of a cannibal murderer. Fuck being enthusiastic about that choice.

When I vote blue out of harm reduction, and I have like clockwork for 20 years, it has felt like going to a fucking funeral every single cycle, because there's never anyone to vote for, only against as even worse.

The only happy voters only ever seem to be the racists and Christian cultists voting to hurt others as its own end, because they've been too deluded to see the unrepretent capitalist oligarchs are their enemies.

Bold of you to assume there will be another election in two years.

[–] Allonzee 26 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I'm extremely confident there will be an "election" in two years.

Whether with or without quotes is what remains to be seen.

[–] DarkFuture 9 points 2 weeks ago

Oh we'll have elections. They'll just have that "Russia" flavor to them. The kind of elections where you don't really need to have them.

All that is because the US has a first past the post and winner takes all system

In, for example, the Netherlands there is no president. There are like 20 different political parties that have to work together to rule. People can and do actually vote for the person they want. Its not perfect by no means but it made Dutch far right still be at the same level of leftist Americans, and everything is much more relaxed, much less extremes

Yeah, it seems like everyone just want silent after the election. Have barely heard anything from the Democrats. This is going to take a while to get over, isn't it?

Still can't believe that January 6th ended up meaning absolutely nothing to people. Wild.

Honestly Dems look like a Karen standing at the counter with her mouth wide open, looking at the other customers for justice after the manager told her to go f*luck herself. And nobody seems to care.

Karen needs to learn that she doesn't get to set the rules. She needs to shut up and learn them if she's ever going to get satisfaction.

it upsets me how accurate that description is.

"We're Still in this fight"

No you're not. You never were. "Fighting" doesn't mean letting the other side play by their own rules with the only consequence being "watchdogs", "alarmism" and finger wagging.

You never actually DID anything. So no...you never fought, you just wrung your hands and hoped.

[–] eran_morad 5 points 1 week ago

well, one guy definitely took the fight to a CEO today.

I think what they meant to say is "All the opposition to trump, should come over here and not organize on your own. We will be able to make sure you don't resist the wrong way ."

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

What, you're saying performative bullshit like wearing pussy hats or kneeling in kente cloths doesn't win elections?

[–] skeezix 7 points 2 weeks ago

Correct. Bullshitting a population of simpleton rubes wins the election.

Let's just hope some military brass arrests him when he tries to abolish the constitution or something.

If he's not a threat to America (domestic) then I'm a moon rock named Phil McCracken.

[–] Homescool 2 points 1 week ago

65% of veterans voted for Trump.

Maybe if we dig our heels in even deeper, double down on the identity politics that got us here in the first place, ignore half the population, and treat them as the source of all evil, things will magically turn out better next time.
