I love how Trump fans and big brain swing voters are trying to justify their vote for tariffs by making it about slavery and jobs. They never cared about slavery before. And it will not just affect gaming - it’s probably going to wreck all tech, appliances, reliable vehicles, everything on Amazon, SHEIN trash, etc.

FYI: Tax cuts for the rich + tariffs = it’s a fucking sales tax.

Manufacturers will not build factories in the US to avoid tariffs. They will downsize and hoard wealth for 4 years until a corporate-friendly Democrat is elected to undo just barely enough of the damage to avoid riots.

This is just a grift to shift more of the tax burden to the working class. Trump fans will gobble it up anyway.

I want off this ride.

Big enough manufacturers will keep producing the individual components in China, then ship to a nearby country that’s not under tariffs to finish the assembly and ship from there.

So it’ll create jobs, alright. They’ll just be overseas.

As for the slavery… If you think you can get a slavemaster to ease up on his workers by forcing him to cut costs, you gotta go back to Econ 101.

Ding, ding! Yup, that's just what it's going to happen and under Trump's proposal, will still be hit by a blanket tariff.

Also even if they do move manufacturing to the US, we don't have the amount of raw materials so that would have to be imported under those same tariffs and prices would go up because labor is more expensive and we don't have that manufacturing expertise, that's not the US's competitive advantage.

Case in point:

I mean seriously, America keeps playing itself.

The wonders of arbitrage.

Yeah, they don't care. And they won't care, even when it starts hurting them. They actually want this, we need to stop pretending they're just uninformed victims. They arent, and they aren't deserving of our charity or understanding

Yes, they are inhuman and our enemies and all their actions are without purpose, only hate. We must destroy them all!

I hope you meant that sarcastically

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes i did, thanks for pointing out someone might actually say this seriously, much like the poster before me. added tone indicator

[–] Warl0k3 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Sorry, I forgot the consensus is that we need to excuse their behavior and that they are absolutely deserving of my charity. /s

Screw off. They want this. They overwhelmingly want this. I'm fucking done trying to help them stave off the consequences to their own hateful, bigoted actions. Are some of them redeemable? Probably. But I've spent years trying to find those redeemable people, and now trump is president again. So, fuckem. They can suffer while I try to keep them from killing my family, which they keep promising to do. Please take your sanctimony and stick it straight up your ass.

Did i ever say anything about excusing anyone? Are you able to understand nuance? That there are more than two positions in the world other than "with you" and "against you"?

Can't you see that this attitude is what alienated enough people to push them towards the fascists who just tell them everything they want to hear?

Do you seriously believe "gamers" is a solid label? That everyone who turned on a PlayStation voted trump?

Look, rage against people who voted for trump is definetely understandable, and I'm not asking you to forgive anyone. But the rage you expressed is just a catharsis shot toward anyone, and risks of making you see the world in black and white. It's not, and the enemy wins when you think that. When it's us against them

Which sucks because I was going to wait for the next Gen CPUs to drop and the the rdna 4 cards Ray tracing performance before updating my current rig.

With this uncertainty it looks like I'll be building now.

9800x3d is here and it’s a beast

[–] inclementimmigrant 2 points 1 month ago

Yup and I was going to wait until next year for a price drop which as of late seems to be AMD's trend of aggressive pricing to complete.

[–] Hobbes_Dent 3 points 1 month ago

Same. I want to upgrade big for MSFS2024 but now it feels like get it soon or don’t bother.

It’s probably don’t bother.

[–] SuperIce 1 points 1 month ago

I was planning to wait for the GPD Win 5, hopefully with RDNA 4 integrated graphics. Those are already expensive; with the tariffs it'll be ridiculous.

"They're eating the GOGs!"

this is a relief because i was starting to worry that video games weren't expensive enough. when's the last time we had a price hike on computer parts as dramatic as the ones in the 2021 supply shortage and scalping era? video games themselves are selling for only $70 + tip. come on, we can surely do better than that.
