Casual Conversation
Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.
RULES (updated 01/22/25)
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

Patio griddle breakfast tomorrow with family will be fun.
Finishing Bad Monkey and Teapot.
Just got in a set of new monitors, laptop, and docking station for work. Gonna be redoing my office setup. Looking forward to upgrading to 4k monitors and also adding a vertical monitor for reading or stacking smaller windows.
4k upgrade is so nice for work, recommend adjusting the Scale setting (assuming Windows, under display settings) to see if you can live with 125% scale or lower at that resolution, it's a surprising amount more screen real estate (default is 150%)
- Walking in the city (one of the + side of living in Paris, there are many nice spots where one can walk).
- Sketching and painting.
- Reading.
- Spend some quality time with my spouse (we probably will be cooking together tomorrow, it's often a lot of fun ;).
- Watching some vids on YT. I'm not a gamer but I enjoy watching a selected few, am I the only one?

Mostly be working on my Ansible knowledge for my RHCE exam next week. I tend to also make some bread (banana loaf) during the weekends so looking forwards to that ☺️
Buy some climbing shoes, my current ones are torn up. Do some gaming. Have hot pot with some friends and maybe walk over to a house we’re in the process of buying.
Having a nice breakfast with the family like every weekend. We either do waffles, pancakes or homemade brezels. Apart from that I'm hoping to spend some time outside in the garden to clean up for autumn while the kids play.
Roof bbq garden party, followed by double cardio for the rest of the weekend.
P.S. don't bbq corned beef
Just bought Veilguard, so I’ll be playing that. I also got a handful of new parts to do a refresh on my inline skates so I can do my usual Saturday morning skate session.
Visiting my folks in another state, sleeping on couch currently and loving it, hah
I've got the itch to do some crafts. Hubs is away and the cleaners just came by so I've got the whole house to myself and barely any chores to get done. I might also start winterizing the yard.

Just got our small sailboat put away for winter storage. Tomorrow, driving a couple hours back to my hometown to visit my grandma who was recently diagnosed with cancer. On Sunday, maybe I will get around to fixing the loose step on our back deck. Or maybe I will put it off for another week.
Play Stardew Valley Expanded (with other mods) with my sibling. Cook something with the groceries we bought yesterday. Marvel at how I well consume a large wheel of brie in a week(end). Possibly play board games with sibling and husband.
