You're missing how it works; you ask for a Coke, the server says what kind, and you say Sprite.

Has this ever actually happened? Every restaurant I've ever been to in any state or country in the world has taken coke to mean Coca Cola.

The closest I've ever heard is "Is Pepsi fine?" if they don't have actual Coca Cola.
