If someone calls themselves a 'gadfly,' you know you are talking to the worst kind of devil's advocate- the kind who thinks he's funny.
There are people that call themselves that? Why would anyone want to compare themselves to a gadfly of all things?
Because Socrates compared himself to a gadfly while on trial, and these twats always think they're great philosophers.
Great philosophers being persecuted for their views, to be more specific.
The funny part is that all a Socratic gadfly can do is prove you wrong using your own logic. When you enter into the realm of descriptions of reality, the gadfly would need to assert better evidence for an alternative position to actually win. You can't gadfly most scientifically supported positions, as science only works to be better than alternatives.
Because they're assholes.
Haven't heard that one yet. I'll have to keep an ear out.
Fox News "comedian" Greg Gutfeld has described himself as a gadfly if that tells you anything.
