For someone that's not familiar with US politics. Who is Marjorie Taylor Greene and who is Hunter Biden? Why do they matter?

[–] FuglyDuck 60 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Hunter Biden is President Biden’s son. To be clear, he doesn’t work for the gooberment.

Greene is a congresswoman, House of Representatives from the state of Georgia. She’s a complete right wing nut. And makes howler monkeys look civilized

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago

Honestly you're not exaggerating. If I was asked to pick between attempting to have a civil conversation with Greene or a howler monkey I think I'd have a better chance of success with the latter.

[–] thorbot 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Now that is just rude to howler monkeys

[–] FuglyDuck 7 points 1 year ago

maybe. I'll apologize when they shut up.

[–] Baylahoo 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

At least howler monkeys know when to shut up

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They don't. Shut up, that is.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's a right-wing nut, not a right wing-nut.

Marjorie Taylor Green, sometimes called MTG, is a representation and a result of the dumbing down of united state politics. She's a member of the far right party in this country and pushes conspiracies, racism, bigotry and hatred. She's possibly the least intelligent person to ever hold federal office in this country.

Hunter Biden is the son of the current US president. He holds no office and has nothing to do with politics, but because he's the president's son, the far right politicians spend a large amount of time trying to find anything they can to make him look bad. He's had problems with drugs and the law in the past so there's a decent amount there for them to attack.

Well he did some business dealings in Ukraine with oil companies before the war. That's pretty much it.

[–] SCB 17 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What's funny is he didn't even have any real operational authority. It was a total rich-kid-nepotism "show up a couple times a quarter" gig. The corruption shit is true, it's just boring regular rich people corruption.

Dudes a fuckup, but like, yeah. Families have fuckups. My sister is a fuckup. Republicans are pushing on this just because it sucks to have your fuckup sister or kid have their shit put out there for people to see.

They're just assholes.

[–] TurboDiesel 5 points 1 year ago

Right, it's just regular nepo baby shit. That's what kills me.

[–] FlyingSquid 5 points 1 year ago

Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter both had (have?) fuckup brothers. Imagine if the Republicans had spent this much time probing into their lives just as pointlessly?

[–] FuglyDuck 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

None of the business stuff in Ukraine is illegal. He’s not a government official, and his dad being president has no bearing on what he can legally take for a job.

The only reason republicans care is because of trump’s corruption (along with most the rest of his family.) that has the critical distinction of being an actual employee of the federal government

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Exactly! They're just manufacturing a narrative by suggesting that this guy is nefarious and doing shady stuff with his drug addiction and nude pics on his laptop that was stolen by a private company.

Speaking of which, how in the hell did the people who stole his laptop not get charged with theft and identity theft?

[–] FuglyDuck 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Speaking of which, how in the hell did the people who stole his laptop not get charged with theft and identity theft? https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/10/15/hunter-biden-laptop-giuliani/ basically they dropped off and then the repair shop gave copies to the FBI (not sure why,) and Gulliani (and that's definitely illegal.)

In any case, there's multiple problems here. The laptop was not last in Biden's possession. It's clear the repair shop opened and accessed data on the drive. Given that... it's not useful as evidence of anything, even if there was a complete manifesto detailing plans for world domination. (there's not. there's one email and dick pics)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's funny, I actually was awarded on Reddit for posting some stuff about the Hunter Biden laptop that won me an argentinium award. I believe it had to do with the fact that an invoice was generated many months after Hunter Biden dropped off the laptop. I still wonder if the laptop was stolen, or how the hell it ended up in the possession of the repair shop and they never returned it to him.

I used to work in computer repair, and that kind of behavior would be illegal and highly unethical. Unless the repair shop had found evidence of something like CP or other illegal activity (although drug use here would count in that regard), they would try to maintain the integrity of the client's data and try their best to return their hardware back to the owner.

A whole situation is really odd.

[–] FuglyDuck 1 points 1 year ago

Yup. If they found things illegal, they’d have to turn it over.

But 1) it was for water damage, why are they going through his emails? It’s unlikely that would even be relevant.

  1. turning it over to the cops is reasonable- fbi might be a bit of a stretch, but sure. Turning over gulianni? That is bad faith. He’s not a criminal lawyer, wasn’t representing hunter, isn’t a law enforcement officer of any stripe. That’s receipt of stolen goods there.

  2. there’s absolutely no reason to believe those emails or any other material are legitimate. Or, you know, even the same laptop. (It probably is. It’s more convincing that way, slipping the few ‘criminal’ bits on and leaving it to be found.)

It all goes to show: guard your data.

I would argue George Santos is a solid contender... Otherwise... Spot on. She's a garbage human being, and, in my opinion, legitimately evil.

[–] FlexibleToast 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

She's a member of the far right party

She actually got kicked out of the Freedom Caucus.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

Both statements are true.

[–] ikidd 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] FlexibleToast 1 points 1 year ago

Not exactly. Unless I misunderstood what was happening. She got mad at Bobo for stealing her thunder and started a petty fight over it.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

I envy you, you're better off.

I only know her name from a JPEGMAFIA song. Pretty sure Hunter is the son of the president of the United States.
