The main thing propping up Windows as the main OS (meaning it is running at the root layer) is exclusive hardware GPU support which is used for gaming & many apps. Otherwise, automating running Windows apps & Windows on Linux would have become much more mainstream.

Yeah, it sounds like his dad liked his step sister way more. Weird for Elon to be so jealous about it.

Most politicians are bought for less than a million. The guy has hundreds of billions. I imagine he can buy a few judges along the way.

Musk knows no bottom, cause he is the bottom.

The video card monopoly (but also other manufacturers) have been limiting functionality for a long time. It started with them restricting vGPU to enterprise garbage products, which allows Linux users to virtualize their GPU for things like playing games with near-native speeds using Windows on Linux. This is one of the big reasons Windows still has such a large marketshare as the main desktop OS.

Now they want to restrict people running AI locally so that they get stuck with crap like Copilot-enabled PCs or whatever dumb names they want to come up. These actions are intentional. It is anti-consumer & anti-trust, but don't expect our government to care or do anything about it.

President Musk must be in charge now.

Saying trans people have autism is ridiculous.

[–] timewarp -4 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

You dont get to talk about autism unless you are autistic, bigot. (Even then you would only get to talk about YOUR autism. Stop spreading these baseless, cookie cutter right wing talking points that dont help anyone.

You're calling me a bigot for what? Because I said trans people don't have a mental disorder?? Are you really suggesting now that saying trans people have gender dysphoria because of autism, and that is somehow non-bigoted? You have no clue what my experience is with autism, but I know that having autism doesn't make people trans.

Imagine you shutting your face about other people‘s skin, identity, mental health and decisions. Typical right wing obsession with overstepping other people‘s boundaries. I understand you have never learned them and grew up in a world where you were told your and other‘s boundaries dont matter. That does not give you the right to do it to others.

Imagine you're so clueless that you think me saying that the ones claiming gender dysphoria is linked to autism are wrong, and that those claims are absurd. Right wingers are happy to support circumcision & have no prob with tattoos. The point was that they ARE overstepping & hypocritical, but somehow you think I should shut up cause in your mind it helps trans people if a baseless study says they all have autism.

Classical false equivalence used to drive misinformation and abusive speech. Religious people around the world are not your enemy. It is their choice to believe in what they want. As you show well, being religious and an overstepping abusive dick is not connected.

90% of the hate towards trans people comes from people that believe in fairy tales, predominantly Christianity & Islam. But go ahead & think they're all your friends and that believing in fairy tales is totally healthy & normal, especially the ones where they don't think trans people should be allowed to exist. You severely lack any intelligence on this subject. I'm left wondering if you're the right-wing plant.

Starts with the foreign citizens, ends with anyone that he chooses

I've been saying this forever but here in the US. Despite all the hate Google gets, at least Android is far more open than Apple.

The point is that many of these open source projects are hugely supported by open source developers in the LGBTQ+ community & minorities from all over the world. It requires building diverse inclusive communities, cooperation & support for these projects & members to exist. There is absolutely no room for hate & bigotry.

Then these anti-DEI incels come along & complain about diversity telling them what their projects should & shouldn't, essentially wanting to remove the communities, cooperation & support that make these projects successful. They don't even want to contribute, but just want to complain. Then they go find some right-wing software, realize it sucks ass, then come back & complain more about why can't the software they want to use cater to their hate.

@gnukeith on X, a @Brave + $BAT Ambassador specifically chosen by Brave is now promoting far-right extremists on X.

Brave CEO, Brendan Eich, was previously ousted from his role as CEO of Mozilla, after it was found that he had donated to Prop 8, a campaign in California aimed at banning gay marriage. Despite Brendan Eich claiming at the time that he regrets his decision, he has since made multiple social media posts defending his anti-gay position.

At some point people must decide whether they wish to ditch the Fox, as Brave started advertising to users searching up Firefox on the Google Play Store, or if they want to ditch the anti-LGBTQ+ browser.

I received my ballot a week ago and I couldn't bring myself to fill it out yet. I'm scared of another Trump presidency if that is what happens, but I can't keep supporting Democrats that have become what they claim to hate. I know if I vote for her that I'm sending a message that they can keep using the same playbook to move closer to fascism and corporatocracy.

They use their influence & power to eliminate opposition, and their donor money to astroturf social media. They censor other voices online, and spread lies about other people (Jill Stein) without evidence. They gaslight and claim you're fascist for telling the truth and blame others for their mistakes. They'll use your money to pay for genocide while turning a blind eye to help themselves, but make a thousand excused why they can't help you.

They don't deserve to win. Trump will be bad and I'm scared about what will happen if he wins, but you and I are not to blame. All they had to do was be truthful, transparent, empathetic and genuine—but their lust for power got in the way.

This is an unpopular opinion, and I get why – people crave a scapegoat. CrowdStrike undeniably pushed a faulty update demanding a low-level fix (booting into recovery). However, this incident lays bare the fragility of corporate IT, particularly for companies entrusted with vast amounts of sensitive personal information.

Robust disaster recovery plans, including automated processes to remotely reboot and remediate thousands of machines, aren't revolutionary. They're basic hygiene, especially when considering the potential consequences of a breach. Yet, this incident highlights a systemic failure across many organizations. While CrowdStrike erred, the real culprit is a culture of shortcuts and misplaced priorities within corporate IT.

Too often, companies throw millions at vendor contracts, lured by flashy promises and neglecting the due diligence necessary to ensure those solutions truly fit their needs. This is exacerbated by a corporate culture where CEOs, vice presidents, and managers are often more easily swayed by vendor kickbacks, gifts, and lavish trips than by investing in innovative ideas with measurable outcomes.

This misguided approach not only results in bloated IT budgets but also leaves companies vulnerable to precisely the kind of disruptions caused by the CrowdStrike incident. When decision-makers prioritize personal gain over the long-term health and security of their IT infrastructure, it's ultimately the customers and their data that suffer.

About a month ago I got a notification that my subscription had been refunded and then another email that my account was terminated:

You are receiving this email because we have identified suspicious activity on your account. In order to protect our platform, we have refunded and canceled your subscription. You will no longer have access to ChatGPT Plus service.

This was after using the service for two months. I emailed and sent them a message almost immediately since I could prove my identity, but they haven't responded back in almost a month. Their customer support appears to be non-existent.

I keep wanting to sign back up, but I'm still pissed about it. I'm guessing it is because I used a virtual card when I signed up and they don't stay active for very long so I have to create a new one for each month of service. Usually I just get a failed payment notification and update my payment info with a new one which pulls from my bank account.

It sucks not being able to use the service though because it was so helpful at helping with programming tasks and Bard isn't nearly as good. Has anyone had any luck getting through to support?

Glad to see some improvement. I still don't trust the department, but they're making progress.

Such a tragic incident! Glad to see the police wearing body cams though.
