Just listened to Selzer break down her methodology in clear, simple terms. I'm starting to think the polling error this cycle is pretty big, and Harris is going to win handily.

I'm strongly in favor of 117. I like 118 in theory, but after reading it, I voted against it, because I think the end result would be to damage small Oregon businesses, while large conglomerates would be fine. I don't want Walmarts to be the only businesses that can afford to operate here.

Yes, I already said, we know you want Donald Trump elected. He won't be. Move on.

Don't vote for a write-in candidate for president. Vote for Harris. If a state or local election has a credible, left-leaning write-in candidate opposing an otherwise-unopposed conservative, definitely do write that one in.

I've noticed the same. When Biden was still in, support for him was of the "grim determination" variety. But as soon as he bowed out, it shifted to practically jubilant support for Harris.

So glad to see that shift.

If Iowa goes blue, then the election overall is very likely going to be a landslide for Harris.

Agreed. Please do it. It doesn't take long.

Whataboutism. Doesn't directly address the fact that Trump made a death threat.

That one's a classic.

Quality post. I really did think I was reading an Onion headline.

And I have to admit, the first time I saw the guy in my neighborhood who bought one driving it around, I pointed and laughed too.

One difference: Biden is president. He's not going to put up with any of the bullshit Trump and his cronies got up to in 2020.

Those calls came after numerous media outlets reported potentially identifying biographical information about the woman, including her job and the neighborhood she called home. Fox News Jesse Watters highlighted the juror's details while reading through public pool notes about the selected members. "This nurse scares me if I'm Trump," Watters said.

I've just finally contracted it for the first time. I'm vaxxed and multiple-times-boosted, so it's not that bad...

But it's still pretty fucking miserable. Ugh. The paxlovid seems to be helping some, but in return it's giving me the most horrendous taste in my mouth. Like a battery fucked a lemon in there.

What worked for you when you caught it, lemmings?

Edit: Holy cats, you guys came through! Thank you all for your various recommendations. The gist of it seems to be:

  • Definitely stay on the paxlovid (and use pineapple to deal with the awful taste in my mouth that's a side-effect).
  • Rest. Fucking REST! Do not, under any circumstances, stop resting until it's run its course. (Fortunately already doing that, since I've been feeling half-past dead.)
  • Ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and mucinex are my dear, sweet friends. (I'm already a big fan of mucinex, so I have some already.)
  • Drink a lot of water. (I have a comically oversized cup I've been using for that.)

And I gotta say... Now, as the end of the day approaches, I think I might, just maybe, be feeling a tad better. Thank you all!

Florida venture capitalist Michael Shvartsman and his brother Gerald Shvartsman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to participating in an insider trading scheme linked to the blockbuster deal that brought former President Donald Trump’s social media business public.

Each of the brothers pleaded guilty in New York to one count of securities fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, according to federal prosecutors.

I don't need to know this myself, but I'm sure someone out there does, so here's how:

If you're a U.S. citizen and legally allowed to vote in your state, registration is quick and easy. Get registered today if you aren't already!

This is pretty nifty. Eugene has some very nice (and underrated) museums.

This is happening right now.

Question does what it says on the tin. I'm not sure how that particular balancing act works.

Both are legislative bodies, so I'm curious about how they structurally differ.

Hello, and welcome to a new community specifically designed around questions and answers of a political nature!

My aim for this community is that it inspire more productive discussion - and less vitriol - than political news communities tend to produce. And for that reason, it's not a political news community!

That's right, this is not the community to submit the latest articles/screeds/Xitter posts on. It's for asking actual questions, and (hopefully) getting more thoughtful responses.

Full disclosure: I am a flaming liberal. There's no point in trying to hide that fact, nor is it something I feel the slightest shame about. That said, my goals with this community aren't particularly partisan. I want it to be informative, and provide factually accurate responses to political questions.

If that's something you're interested in, you're welcome here regardless of your personal partisanship!
