Valve's shooters be like
I wish we'd get another Left 4 Dead, and while I don't feel like TF2 really needs a new game, it could probably do with a fresh coat of paint (like PBR materials).

Valve's shooters be like
I wish we'd get another Left 4 Dead, and while I don't feel like TF2 really needs a new game, it could probably do with a fresh coat of paint (like PBR materials).
If there's one good thing that Back 4 Blood did, it's remind me how good Left 4 Dead was, so I went and played that instead.
Remember Valve's cardinal rule: We can't count to 3.
Day of Defeat is beneath the pool
I spent more time on this one than any of the others.
DoD was the first FPS I ever played that had mouse aiming. That sounded dumb to me so I just camped in crowded areas with a machine gun and waited for people to run into my crosshairs.
I cannot aim and also have a crap mouse (don't really want to spend money on anything gaming related) so I alternate between MG and nade runs. Small maps are great for nading all night long.
Goddamn, for real. Left 4 Dead 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, maybe even my favorite. Everything that's there adds to the experience and is finely tuned and crafted. It just plays so well that it's the only game that Ive played for over 200 hours and still go back to that has no meta progression whatsoever, aside from achievements I don't even chase.
that has no meta progression whatsoever
That's one of the reasons I liked it. Everyone has the same experience, there's no FOMO. It's just so pure.
I was among the millions to cry foul that LFD2 came out so soon after the first game. It seemed like it was just gonna be a $60 map pack.
But goddamn they brought their A game and really did improve everything about the original.
playing cs2 makes me REALLY want a left 4 dead 3 with this engine 😞
I like how Half Life is entirely missing 🤣
I mean, half-life recently got a new game. It wasn't Half-Life 3/HL2:EP3, but it was more recent than L4D and TF2; which tend to be forgotten about until people start complaining.
When you gate it behind VR, most people aren't going to play it. It's also a prequel and wont address the cliff hanger ending.
Not going to lie, I haven't played a competitive shooter in years, but I used to play the shit out of CS back in the day. I kind of want to jump into this again.
1.6 was the shit on every single LAN party when I went to primary school. Good times.
Now’s the time!
Indeed. I was pretty decent back in 1.3 days playing on a friend's server who had a frickin T1 line at home. It was just as competitive play was starting to develop and there was no voice chat until Roger Wilco came about. That's partly why I'm not a WASD guy. Gotta keep the fingers on the home row ready to type "I had sex with your mom." not just say it.
Ah, memories.
Played some CS2 last night and it was death match rounds on Dust 2. Unbelievable how fast I die. I just can't even...
However, the game did feel really well polished. Very snappy except for a few lag spikes. I started to limber up and even earned a positive K:D in one round. Well, for most of the round. I fell to - 3 in the last moments, but overall it was pretty fun. Don't think I could hang in a regular match though. Too much time sitting around dead.
Happy to see the game moving forward, and thrilled that so many players are happy about it. Idk why but CS stopped feeling like CS to me with GO. I’ll definitely try CS2 out, but I wish I was excited about it too.
Does anyone know if the custom server/maps community made a place for itself with GO? My peak CS experience (probably mostly due to my ages at the time, was 1.6 with the wacky custom maps, WC3 servers, super hero severs.. And then in Source the zombie servers were so fun, especially the ZE (Zombie Escape) maps. Few things in life are as memorable as successfully escaping the mines of Moria from a hoard of player zombies.
Stoked. I like the new improvements. I'm happy to see this game moving forward like this. Been playing for over 20 years and I couldn't be happier. After a few patches to tidy up loose ends, this game will leave CS:GO in the dust.
I like CSGO but I still wish they would cut out the gambling garbage, shitty buisiness practises in their games is one of the few truly terrible things about Valve!
Yep, I still suck.
Terrorists Win (the drip competition)
Looks like GO with a new UI.
I'm guessing there's more to it, but that's what it looks like.
I have mixed feelings on it.
I like the improvements Source 2 has brought as well as the map-based ranking system.
It feels kind of rushed though. Many maps and gamemodes like arms race are missing and valve seems to have removed macOS support. The increase in graphical fidelity has caused performance to drop by half at least on my old-ass PC.
The lack of MacOS support isn't new, that's part of their Linux first strategy for a long time. They fear the Windows Store since it came out and Apples equavalent could be even more dangerous so they usually try not to support Apple devices properly.
Imo it currently plays like shit. Cs has a feel to it and to me, this doesn't quite feel like cs. The gunplay hasa very specific feel and I just don't get the same feedback when shooting on it.
The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is removing CSGO from steam. Especially when CSGO had more features, it’s just a weird move. Why is Valve copying blizzard?
Also, the CSGO reviews now show up under CS2? Is it a new game or not? They shouldn’t be able to have it both ways.
Anyone know if you have to rewrite configs? Or is it easily transferred from the csgo config?
