Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Fucking gross. People, please make sure to get your neighborhood conservatives fixed. Otherwise they will continue to mate and spawn additional hatchlings making the infestation even worse.

That movie is eugenicist. If you disagree, look up the definition of eugenics and watch the first 5 minutes of the movie again before responding, please.

[–] ATDA 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nah they'll just go get an abortion elsewhere.

[–] LEDZeppelin 37 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Party of so many family values!

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They care about family values so much that they have two families. Checkmate, leftists.

[–] LEDZeppelin 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Double the families, double the values….and, believe it or not, double the standards.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

^ This needs upvotes. TFF.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Realistically, this should be a non-issue and ignored...except for the fact that they both represent a party who claims to be the beacon of family values.

I'm sure there are voices on the right who would agree that this is a solemn, private matter and not for public comment, then turn right around and share Hunter Biden dick pic memes. Fuck 'em. If they reject their own moral standards they lost the right to bitch about mine.

Non-monogamy is cool as long as it's ethical... What's the over/under that these two concern themselves with ethics?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

They’re politically active and un-retired Republicans; nobody’s going to take that bet, because Republican politicians nearly without exception simply don’t concern themselves with ethics in any context.

I find it sad that we treat celebrity gossip as newsworthy. Sure, they're hypocrites. That's like telling me touching water will get you wet. What else is new?

[–] YoBuckStopsHere 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's news because they dug hundreds through the dirt for far less.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, live by the sword, die by the sword.

Now it's their turn in the arena.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Nah, "no consequences for us" is the Republican motto.

[–] ashok36 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This is newsworthy because one is the executive of an entire state. Having proof of the affair could give someone leverage over the governor and affect the way she conducts the business of the state.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Well, probably not so much now.

In theory, I don't give a shit, consenting adults and all that.

In practice, they're complete pig rectums to everyone else about their sex lives so I'm not really invested in defending them. Got people at a higher priority to back.

[–] c0c0c0 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I doubt it'll turn S. Dakota purple.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

@c0c0c0

I dunno, out of the 12 people who live there, one of them is substantially less likely to vote for her now.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

A president lost his job because of infidelity. Politians aren't celebrities.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Normally, I agree. But when this sort of thing is uncovered about politicians who constantly bleat about “family values”, it becomes immediately relevant to the public discourse around our state and national politics - specifically, how one particular party has a pattern and practice of extreme hypocrisy and gaslighting.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They're hypocrites and they want to be in charge. This isn't some Hollywood star whose life outside entertaining us is irrelevant. This is someone who wants to decide what the laws that affect people like you and me are. These are the representatives that we send to negotiate on our behalf. Their ability to be decent human beings and keep promises they made matters.

I'm gonna need something other than Daily Mail on this one.

[–] Kbobabob 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I scrolled pretty far to get to this comment. Everyone seems happy to just believe anything from anyone. I mean it's probably true knowing these people, but still it's the Daily Mail.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

(@Kbobabob, this is not pointed at you.)

Americans gonna American.

You know how we have OAN and Infowars and Breitbart? And how when one of those reports something, you go "Yeah, I'm gonna need a better source than that"? Same with Daily Mail. This doesn't mean that everything they "report" is fabricated, but any given thing damned well could be, and even if the heart of it is true, the spin is so hard that it bends time and space.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If your ideology boils down to power and domination, then hypocrisy is just virtue signaling.

[–] CharlesDarwin 2 points 1 year ago

The gaslighting is a key component of the fascism.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Ok another topic we need to bring up. The Summit County Republican dude with the dyed goatee and gray hair. It's amazing.

[–] CharlesDarwin 1 points 1 year ago

More super-gawdly goppers, I take it?

I hate conservatives as much as the next person, but we shouldn't concern ourselves with who is fucking who, regardless of marital status if both parties are consenting. If we should be concerned with the other evil they do that impacts the lives of marginalized people.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

I don't care who fucks who UNLESS you are trying to make it illegal to have a book that just mentions that gay people exist in a public library. Then who you fuck becomes relevant. And I still don't care who you fuck, but I am only interested in the limited strategic political value it has to embarrass these shitheads. And, yes, conservatives do not care about hypocrisy, but I still think it's good to publicize this kind of thing in case it just subliminally diminishes some of their supporters' enthusiasm, even though it they won't ever actually withdraw their support.
