PIGS do work but they also have 7 hour lunchtime and siesta and also an 8 hour designated chill time then 9 hours for sleeping

Having been there just this past year (Alsace, northen Hauts-de-France, and Normandy, mostly), I can confirm. I never figured out quite when normal opening hours were meant to be outside of major cities.
