It's always been like that. A very large portion of conservatives have always hated America and everything it is supposed to stand for: democracy, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom both FROM and of religion, etc. They hate and loathe it. When they cry about how the corporate media is "too liberal", they basically tell on themselves all the time. Same for having conniptions over someone kneeling while a song played during sportsball...
Because Trump said no abortions. That's literally it, it doesn't really get deeper. As long as he says "yeah sure no abortions" they will follow him into oblivion. He's doing "god's will" and everything, even the existence of this country comes second to that. They do not want a free democracy, they want a Christian ethnostate.

I’ve never met an actual Christian in America. They’re all fake as fuck, and there’s nothing about abortion in the Bible. It’s one of the easiest moral questions, one that ethicists don’t even bother to debate anymore: no, we shouldn’t force women and children to give birth to rape babies. wtf.
There's something that might be about abortion in the bible, but it's about how to perform one in case of adultery
In saving babies they're going to kill so many more people. More disease, more hunger, more depression and suicide, more desperation and violence are on their way. They've ensured every fetus will live long enough to regret being born.
I believe theres a word for it... like Natural selection or fuck around and find out.

They don't give a fuck about babies, cause if they did, they'd offer welfare programs to help struggling parents.

There’s a reason they also want to privatize education, make buying a house impossible, profit off grocery prices until you can only afford your daily McDonald’s ration. They've been so well trained by the conservative propaganda machine that this doesn't even compute for them. Or they do enough mental gymnastics to convince themselves that the people dying deserve it. My sibling was one of the federal workers cut by musk. We were hoping that musk hurting one of their kids directly would wake them up. But no, elon is going to save america, we have no idea what we are talking about. They didn't even know who this guy was before November. It's like their brains were hacked, I can't explain it any other way. When I was little, my dad would tell us that we were all made in god's image and that no matter who, we all deserved a happy life. Now he tells us about how he's suspicious of the "immigrants" at the supermarket. They've changed so much it breaks my heart
Fighting for equal rights versus drifting with the tide of religion and right wing politics. They got old. They're tired. This way is so much easier. And I'm assuming they're relatively wealthy white people so probably nothing will happen to them.
Neo-Confederacy. The slaver South never forgot or forgave, because we never forced them to at the end of a rifle. They kept their hate for the Union alive for all these years.
The plantation owners of old were essentially feudal lords in terms of wealth and influence, so a quasi-monarchy is on brand.
Create chaos and force a new continental convention so the far right can shove a new constitution with provisions for the oligarchy, theocracy fascist takeover.
Now that would be the moment, everyone under one roof, to do some grassroots politics.
So... Could a cop just waltz into the Whitehouse and arrest Trump for the crimes he's objectively committed? Theoretically, i mean, i understand there would be some difficulties even if they technically can.
Nah, supreme court thought it would be a good idea to say the president can't break the law.

This is where I think the courts should have the ability, in a constitutional crisis, to say anyone that brings in a rogue official will get full immunity from prosecution.
It would be a nice show of protest, at least.
