MODERATORS

Summary

Thousands protested across the U.S. against Trump’s policies, Project 2025, and Elon Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Demonstrators rallied against Trump’s immigration actions, rollback of transgender rights, and proposed forced transfers of Palestinians. Many expressed concerns over Musk’s access to Treasury data, fearing privacy risks.

Protests occurred in multiple state capitals, with arrests in Iowa and strong opposition in Alabama over LGBTQ+ policies.

Organized under #buildtheresistance, the movement signals growing resistance to Trump’s administration and its sweeping policy changes.

If it's thousands of protesters across the country, then it's a few hundred per state, a tiny amount, really :(

Unfortunately it was chosen somehow to start at 12:00pm on a weekday, stifling participation.

Why the fuck does it always say stuff like "Trumps policies" or "his actions as president". What theyre doing is mostly illegal, it has nothing to do with being president. People are protesting against a fascist takeover, which has already happened.

If I stage a fascist takeover would the headline be "people all over the US protesting tomi000's actions as a US citizen"?

I think you forgot the part where the Supreme Court declared that basically anything the president does is legal. Citizens United drove a stake through the heart of American democracy, and this latest ruling cut its head off.

Oh I didnt even know that. Sounds crazy, shouldnt the president be bound to the law most of all people?

You would think so, but the Supreme Court is majority Republican and three of them were appointed by Trump.

He has all three branches of the U.S. government under his control and they will never willingly give it up.

have you considered how offensive it is to some of us for you to frame this conversation in terms that aren't profitable or even palatable for corporate news media?

remember when he said project 2025 wasn't something he was interested in?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 hours ago

Remember when a significant portion of the American people believed him? ...fuck.

Doesn’t mean shit until Elon’s head is on a spike.

Metaphorically speaking.

While I personally think this was organized too quickly to really be effective, it does give me hope that we might get some semblance of resistance. I’ve been dreading the possibility a second American civil war for more than a decade, since the early days of the tea party, ironically I find myself hoping for one as one of the more preferable outcomes at this point. It would still be horrible but better than the playground for the rich we’re looking down the barrel of right now
