Just have to say I have been unemployed for awhile and this whole who knows if money will have value thing is just such a rrrreeeeeeaaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyy great motivator when looking for work. I just spring up every day to send out resumes.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How many 7 step interviews have you had? Only took me 13 months to get a job.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

none but I had one case that went down to two folks and they went with the other guy. My one year will be in sept and this is already the second longest I have been unemployed but im not hoping to make a new record.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

None? My guy, you might be cooked. I had dozens of 7 step interviews over those 13 months. If you're not meeting with the CEO for an individual contributor role, then are you really living!?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I thought it was a big deal that I had met the ceos of the last two companies I worked for and never did previous to that. Granted one was in the bathroom.

[–] Tyfud 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I believe he was being sarcastic, but I might be reading it wrong.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

oh yeah he was def being sarcastic but I like my little ceo story.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

No, zero sarcasm. I've had executives of billion dollar companies present during my interviews multiple times. No fucking idea why. These where not "I'm a CEO of a 10 employee company" this was "I'm the CEO of a company with 10,000 employees." This was twice but every other of the dozens I made it to the point of interviewing with a director or vice president of a fortune 500 company. Like, wtf is the deal now!?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pssst, nice dick Power move. For reals though? Wtf do I need to talk with an executive for a job that pays $100k!?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It blows my mind that 100k is not that much anymore. There was a time I would have thought I had really made it if I made that.

[–] MutilationWave 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That time is still now for me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Im in the us and have a wife with a lot of medical issues. I figured out that if I make 80k I will be in the red. It boggles my mind but it is what it is.

Hey, you guys ever heard of brain drain?

Because we've got a nice Europe over here ready to show you some humanity

[–] glitches_brew 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't even know where to begin looking but I'm interested.

[–] IndiBrony 9 points 1 week ago

England has its own problems, but for anyone who decides the North East of England sounds appealing, I'd be quite happy to do the traditional British thing of sitting in a pub and putting the world to rights whilst enjoying a nice beer with you 🍻

We're all either going to die in a blaze of fire within 4 years or we're going to survive with some pretty hefty PTSD. Either way, we're gonna need some friends to enjoy it with.

Anyone willing to help with citizenship 👀

Just asking for a friend

(That friend is me)

[–] thespcicifcocean 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

some countries allow citizenship based on ancestry. Germany, Poland, etc. If one or more of your ancestors came from europe you might be eligible to claim citizenship that way. if you can work from home, you might be able to get a long stay visitor's visa in some countries, which will allow you to live there, but not work in their local market. after a period of time you'd be eligible for permanent residency which would allow you to work there though.

Interesting. My grandparents were from Germany and I’m an engineer.

I’m more the type to stand and fight fascism than run away though. Hell the AFD is a problem there too. Don’t act like it’s not y’all.

But I’d like to start looking into it if shit gets real bad which I’m pretty sure it will

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm moving to Sweden in about 6 months! Or sooner if things go wildly to shit before then...

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I recently saw a video claiming that the US taxes it's citizens even if they live abroad. Is that true? If so, how are you going to deal with that? Paying taxes for two countries would not leave you a lot to live on...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Most countries have agreements to not double tax people. So if you tell the US government you already pay taxes to Sweden, they will waive their own tax requirements

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I believe you're only taxed the delta between what would be your US rate and another country's rate if said country has a lower rate.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

In addition to what others said, there is also the FEIE, quite a generous tax deduction for US citizens who live abroad.

[–] Bytemeister 6 points 1 week ago

Tempting to flee, but also don't want to leave death cult fascists in sole control of the deadliest nuclear arsenal on the planet. I'm staying put.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I would, but guns are my hobby and I don't speak Czech.

[–] thespcicifcocean 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

switzerland, but it's hella expensive there. France has an active hunting scene as well. No hand guns allowed here for civilians, but rifles and shotguns are allowed with a license.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I mean, even in the UK I can own a rifle and shotgun with minimal hassle.

But I can't in good faith recommend anyone moves here from the US tbh.

Germany would be a solid bet of you're into shooting - lots of hunting going on there, and generally a high level of English proficiency also.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

No ability for me to move for quite a few reasons... I need the option to for a more literal interpretation (volunteer to test physical brain preservation).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Eh. Once Elon gets bored of the USA, he'll start taking over the rest of the world. Nowhere is safe. Capital is global!

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes the South African oligarch who isn’t American

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Capital is global!

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 week ago

No no no. Thats not it. Its all the nations money. Its the whole banking systems both the governments and yours and mine. Feel better?

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 week ago

He's fattening up the pig for the inevitable butchering.

[–] Allonzee 17 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Well shit, with all the neoconfederates muttering about the confederacy rising again for over a century, I didn't expect the Nazis to pull out a surprise victory.

Guess that's what happens when a nation worships something as hollow as money and greed and not the wellbeing of society and its people.

[–] kamenlady 18 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The Nazis were defeated, but never really destroyed.

Humanity should avoid this error from happening a second time.

Edit: I'm not saying Germany should have been erased. I mean, Nazis should have been chased until the last one was caught. German or not is irrelevant.

[–] soylentgreenenergy 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"The nazis were defeated but never really destroyed"

So, if we are being entirely accurate, we could acknowledge "nazi" the political ideology from "nazi" the soldiers themselves. It might have been naive for America to think an ideology could be eliminated, when they bring a bunch of the nazis home, and give them high paying prestigious jobs and praise them as heros. Many will react with anger to reading that, despite this info not being conspiratorial in the slightest. Its been confirmed by various high ranking military officers and well known politicians. It's in fact soo mainstream that even wikipedia has an extensive article about it, The documents have long since been declassified, and can be found on the official cia reading room website. And still, even with all that, its not something kids will ever learn in school. Its noteworthy how they don't hesitate to call out historical colonial figures for owning slaves, and yet Werner Von Brahn's body lyes in an expensive custom tomb, and he is still basically celebrated as a founder of NASA. The German Nazi military had advanced beyond the US and the USSR in missile technology, and long range missiles were the basis for how we eventually built space shuttles. We only really "won" the cold war space race thanks to the engineers who were formally nazis, but that is far from the only example of Americas alliance with nazis.

Madison Square Garden once hosted the American Nazi party political event in 1930s. They like to make that event seem like some error in judgement that just slipped by. But actually, during the 30s Americans respected the Nazis, and that even was hosted live on network television, because the American nazi party was HUGE! A few years later, Hitler hosted the Olympic games, which were attended civilly by UsA & Russia, and Hitler famously posed on the cover of Times magazine, just as Zelensky did (noticing a trend here? America is sending billions to the Azov Battalion, who our leaders have called "good people", but they are not too fond of who is on the "other side" this time. That would be big ol meanie Vladamir Putin, who has been quoted countless times stating that his goal was to "de-nazify Ukraine".

Another thing you wont learn in school; the "hitler salute"? Hitler got it from us, the USA. Hitler admired America, thats why he repurposed "the bellamy salute" (look it up) all school children would "do the Elon" while reciting the pledge of allegiance, with the direction of the hand pointed towards the American flag.

Margaret Sanger, creator of Planned Parenthood, was reportedly "pen pals" with hitler. Theyd write to one another discussing the intellectual importance of eugenics programs to "strengthen the genepool", which both believed to thwart the threat to the future of white race.

Its 2025 guys, if we want to prevent an event like that, its important to know the FULL history. America also placed asians in concentration camps here at home, and we occupied a part of post ww2 Germany along with USSR, and did to the citizens what had been done to minorities. We killed the innocents, and brought our nazi friends back home. And it was 1999 before we formerly put our last "gas chamber" out of comission, but until then we used it to execute hundreds. (and the last one was in California btw).

[–] kamenlady 2 points 1 week ago

I knew about the initial sympathy for Hitler. Especially about the Olympics hosted in Germany, with all the Leni Riefenstahl imagery.

Everything in history is much more convoluted and complicated than one would imagine. Even knowing everything, one should keep in mind, that history is written by the winning side.

Like the things happening now. I'm happy for the WTF newsletter, summarizing a little of WTF Happened Today? I find it hard to keep track of the important stuff, while they keep massively bombarding us with bullshit everyday.

[–] thespcicifcocean 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

huh. corruption, state capture, kleptocracy. I think elon is just trying to make the US like his home country.

[–] Snapz 2 points 1 week ago

Not just his country, thiel and sacks' as well. This is a not so quiet business plot funded by apartheid raised psychopaths that wasn't too destroy society so they can build over the cleared space - also the reason for the left field Greenland thing. Watch that "dark Gothic maga" video from "blonde politics".

[–] Hobbes_Dent 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

You bet little man.

And don’t worry, it’s not your country he has suggested be cleared out yet.

Edit: * food aid in background being loaded onto US military contractor plane *

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

uh no, actually, because the congress does, as defined by the fucking founding fathers.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Power belongs to the ones that wield it.

Congress has given it up, as their spiritual ancestors did to Hitler and Mussolini.

It won't be taken back with votes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

the congress isn't capable of "giving up power" It's literally their defined fucking job?
