That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-YSK posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

If you are a member, sympathizer or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

MODERATORS

They're actively engaged in and expressed desire in increased levels personal surveillance. With AI on the rise we can't be too careful. Don't make it too easy to find posts by you containing their names, or allusions to them. In a few years, posts like these could be considered illegal - even retroactively like the Nazis did!

I work in IT, specifically education. I know how easy it can be to passively and actively monitor thousands of people with one station. It's probably already too late for us, but we can try.

Use metaphor, don't use the direct spelling, don't make your intentions completely clear.

Fuck Donald Trump. Fuck Elon Musk.

And, let them fuck each other.

A lot of things just sorta clicked recently. I can say I feel better now than I ever have before. This shit is finally making sense on a level I can explain to my peers.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 19 hours ago

It's far too late for all of my accounts already, and I'm not going to waste my time going back through them and scrubbing every instance of me talking about how Elon Musk buries his four inch cock up to the balls in Donald Trump's throat while Jeffrey Bezos pegs them both with Clint Eastwood's Oscar statues every other Sunday, but he's not allowed to cum unless Vladimir Putin says so over the Zoom window he watches from.

[–] BradleyUffner 15 points 23 hours ago

If Trump has a list of people he doesn't like, I would be honored to be on it.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes 78 points 1 day ago

Donald Trump's dick is small and it drives him crazy, and Elon Musk is such a fucking dweeb that even with billions and billions of dollars, he still can't be even slightly cool.

Breaking unjust and stupid laws is my duty as an American. Fuck Elon Musk and Donald Trump. They can eat my ass, and not in the good way.

Alternatively, be loud and proud so that you have evidence that you should be granted asylum when the time comes

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lmao, what do you think happens when you show up in an EU country requesting asylum?

They say "The United States is a Democracy. Asylum denied. Good luck." gets deported back to the US

Then the border agents make some excuse that says your US passport is invalid, and you get thrown in a camp where they hold all the "illegal immigrants". Don't forget about the 13th amendment prison slavery exemption.

(And by the time the world no longer recognize the US as a Democracy, it'd be too late, since borders would be closed and you won't be able to leave.)

[–] acchariya 7 points 1 day ago

This is actually not true. If you are part of a "persecuted group" without access to a safe alternative location inside the country of origin, you can seek asylum in the EU.

So for example, trans people from Florida currently cannot seek asylum in the EU although they are at risk of "discriminatory and disproportionate prosecution" for using public restrooms, because there is an "internal protection alternative", in other states.

If however, federal law is passed banning trans folks from public bathroom use, it is likely that they could seek asylum in the EU.

There are a lot of things that have to happen for us to go from the world we are in today, to a world where individuals need to avoid being critical of the state online or face reprisal.

Advice like this seems helpful, but regular citizens being punished (by the government) for what they say online is very unlikely. Instance owners and influencers sure, but not your average netizen.

This is needless fearmongering. Follow basic privacy practices and it'll take far more than a "mass surveillance" level of effort to track down your real identity from a social media profile. Also the amount of dislike for Trump and/or Musk is huge, so they'd have to go after like half the population.

And with that said, Trump and Musk are pieces of shit and deserve to die.

Obviously Scarlet Monastery, everything is HR need tank and healer!

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I think they mean social media

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They had to have meant Space Marines.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

um obviously they mean Secret Messages, ELO's much maligned 1983 penultimate album that has since developed a cult following surrounding the original planned 2LP tracklist before it was reduced to one disc shortly before release

[–] deleted 3 points 1 day ago

It could be. But I think Shared Memory is what they mean.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

True, well it's either that or spaghetti and meatballs. It couldn't be anything else.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

I love how centric it is that we're expected to be psychic with ad-hoc initialisms from a clique.

So the one friggin person to answer the question deleted their comment? I feel relatively 'connected' online and I have no idea what OP is referring to.

Edit: Jesus christ it's "social media." Why not just spell it out?

And use Signal for the love of all which does not suck.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

From what I know Element is a safer bet (similarly encrypted, but also decentralized), but Signal is the best one out of the messengers that don't require any technical knowledge.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

He was already president once, anything post 2016 is probably noted.

And some people just never EVER shut up about them so there's plenty of noise to hide in

[–] shalafi 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm thinking the noise is hella easy to get posts buried in, especially around here. But still, security through obscurity is not security.

And they won't find you through your posts, they'll crucify you for them once you're caught for something else.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 19 hours ago

Well, a known fascist tactic is making examples out of randomly chosen people who allegedly said the wrong thing in the wrong place. The amount of noise doesn't matter in that case. They'll just pick people at random they can persecute publicly in an attempt to scare everyone into clamming up and obeying.

At that point, there is no point in censoring yourself, because they will target you randomly regardless. At that point, there will be no point in saying or not saying anything online, because the only recourse will be [removed by lemmy.world admins] until the last one is [removed]

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I've avoided his name for years. You know he likes when people say his name and I just don't want to give him the satisfaction.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I thought we had to say his name even though his death eaters could apparate to you. I don’t want to say He Who Must Not Be Named.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I've been saying "our former President" but I guess I'll have to change that soon.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 19 hours ago

"that orange freak" suffices

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

Why? He will still be "your former President"

[–] kmartburrito 6 points 1 day ago

It's like that bumper sticker - one day we will wake up to his obituary

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm too old to bother, but thanks for the advice. Both should hope to be forgotten in our lifetimes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Gone, maybe. Forgettable, hopefully, but never forgotten. Forgetting just means someone new will repeat it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

I mean, you and I hope they are remembered forever as the villains they are, so, like I said, they should hope to go down as little more than footnotes.

A lame-duck 2nd term is the best Trump's legacy can hope for.
