!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Am I doing something wrong? I search communities with key word weather and find no communities with over a few to maybe a dozen subscribers.

I want to ask for advice on a good Android weather widget. 'Ask Android' is a community I will place a question on but naturally the best place would be 'Android Apps' which is a ghost town and weather communities are also like ghost towns.

Are there communities out there that I'm not seeing somehow? Please help?!

I don't want to use Reddit but may have to on some of these niche communities due to sparse activity.

Which app is this? It finds a lot. Although 3k subscribers everywhere look a bit suspicious.

Dang, When I search using Jerboa app I am not seeing any of the ones in your screenshots 🙁

[–] Amilo159 10 points 1 year ago

I stopped using Jerboa because of search issues. Liftoff and Voyager (wefwef) are the best so far for my use.

I also don't get them on Jerboa. What instance are you on? I think that communities wont show up in your instance unless someone has already accessed them. If you search directly for the ones in the post above, they should show up. I think you have to put an exclamation mark in front of the term. E.g.
[email protected]

Hope that works.

I am subscribed to Lemmy.world instance and I still don't have [email protected] show in search results.

Looks like different Lemmy App is in order.

You could post a bug on the Jerboa community. It might be known and have a fix out soon. I think most apps have their own quirks. Either way, let me know if you have any success.

Discovery on Lemmy is still in its infancy. Lots of friction. When you do a search for a community, you're only searching your home instance, so if your home instance is never been subscribed or connected to those other communities they won't be returned in your search. So that's something that's going to have to improve to make Lemmy more general user friendly

Looks neat, is it Voyager?

It is but the mod does not allow questions there.

[–] acrobaticpenguin23 1 points 1 year ago

That I can see, lol. Plus can't ask my question in that community. I believe its against that communities rules. They direct those to AskAndroid.

weather & widget - weawow

I know you asked about a community to ask the question but I would like to recommend you this app.

4.9 stars on 539k reviews and 5m+ downloads.

Thanks . Tried it out but the widget I Wowz 'Current 2' does not display the barometric reading when I place on home screen.

Only displays two of 4 meausurements on that particular widget.

The measurements I would like displayed on my weather widget are

  1. Barometric Pressure
  2. Relative Humidity
  3. Dew Point
  4. UV Index
  5. Air Quality
  6. Basic measurements like temp, wind speed, etc.
  7. Severe weather alert indicator

Bonus would be precipitation chance percentage. When Ilookeed through WEOWOW options didn't see one where I could customize to get my list of wants on one or twowidgets setup.

I am willing to pay as in one time payment for this weather widget.

try the degoogle or privacy communities and ask for an open source meteo app or widget

answers would probably be

A lot of smaller communities are not really active, and we're only created because one person wanted to create it. There is probably no need for 30000+ communities with 2 months of Lemmy popularity :)

[–] acrobaticpenguin23 1 points 1 year ago

Or maybe they had an app like Jerboa and when searching they didn't see an existing community so they created one?
