If or when we succumb to climate change, I’ll have one dying wish. It’ll be that these disgusting ultra-wealthy fucks who partook in humanity’s demise, live long lives suffering horrible psychosis and hysteria for the decades leading to their sad and lonely deaths, all the while fruitlessly waiting in isolation for Earth to become inhabitable again.

I wish the remaining flora and fauna all the best. Mycelium and bacteria will be fine. Lol

Just locate plug their exhaust hole when they go hiding.

They're billionaires. You don't think his "little shelter" doesn't have automatic turrets guarding it?

[–] grue 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

His "little shelter" is, together with Larry Ellison, essentially the entire island of Lanai. It has a 7-mile-wide moat separating it from the higher-populated parts of Hawaii, let alone the US mainland.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

... Did they buy basically all of Lanai, as well?

Or are you getting your islands mistaken?

https://www.wired.com/story/mark-zuckerberg-inside-hawaii-compound/

WIRED puts Zuck's compound on Kauai, right about here:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/sXDfSw5zTiap1k2bA?g_st=ac

Looks like the imagery in this area has not been updated since 2019.

Not sure exactly where the property lines are, but I'm fairly sure I've got the main area in the picture here, matches all the details in the WIRED article.

[–] grue 3 points 6 days ago

You're right; I was mistaken about which island Zuckerberg's property is on.

[–] lordnikon 6 points 6 days ago (2 children)

It will run out of bullets at some point with no way to reload a few RC cards should do the trick

[–] Blue_Morpho 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm sure they've done the math and have enough bullets to kill everyone with the resources to reach his island. They probably used the same employees that plan their server capacity.

[–] lordnikon 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

But your assumption is they have infinite space for ammo and the guns don't jam. It's not like they can run them 24/7 with zero maintenance and its not like they will have a staff. If they are at the point of bunker time money is worthless. I remember reading about how there is a lot of talk in ultra wealth spaces about how do. Stop your security force from just taking your bunker. No one has a good answer for that problem and it puts a smile on my face knowing that will be their fate.

[–] Blue_Morpho 0 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Of course there will be staff. He's not going to clean his own toilets.

50 million 50 caliber bullets assuming 2x overhead for packing occupies a cube 6 meters on each side.

And automatic turrets don't shoot wildly like humans. It's 1 bullet, 1 headshot. Even YouTubers can do it with a $5 microcontroller and nerf gun.

[–] lordnikon 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yeah but staff requires payment and if society collapses. That means money is worthless so it falls back to biggest person with the biggest weapon gets your stuff. So his head of Security now runs the place.

[–] Blue_Morpho 1 points 6 days ago

If it were that easy, his head of security would have already killed him and disappeared with $100m.

You do it like all dictators have done throughout history. You have several security guards each watching the other. It requires all security in agreement to overthrow the dictator like the Praetorian guard in ancient Rome.

Rust turret baiting grub spotted :D

[–] Anticorp 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Sorry dude, they'll retreat to their bunker mansions and live out their lives in luxury. There's no universal justice. If humanity wants justice, they must force it into existence.

[–] IphtashuFitz 2 points 5 days ago

How will they live in luxury when their clean water supply breaks down or their power fails, or they run low on food?

You think Zuckerberg or Musk knows the first thing about repairing a leaky toilet, much less troubleshooting a reverse osmosis water filtration system or a faulty solar panel inverter? They’re going to need a lot of staff to do all that. And that staff is going to be watching out for themselves & their families much more than a billionaire whose wealth means jack shit when you’re all locked inside a bunker as the world burns around you.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 days ago (1 children)

None of these billionaires know how to survive without a hundred people personally tending to them so I'm not sure how long they think they'll last in their bunkers

[–] Anticorp 15 points 6 days ago (3 children)

They're building their bunkers to support staff as well. Don't think them stupid, because they're not. They're just evil, not stupid.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

Will they hire security to protect them from the support staff?

Real 'lets hire these saxons as our enforcers to replace the roman legionaires that jusy left' 410 AD energy

[–] iAvicenna 3 points 5 days ago

on a dooms day scenario there is very little stopping the staff taking over the bunker though.

[–] Fades 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Why are you so focused and on absolutes? The majority of those with that kind of money has more to do with connections and nepotism than it does intelligence.

Donald fucking Trump loves to brag about his schooling at Wharton’s but Warton’s professors say he was the dumbest they ever had to deal with. Still graduated.

Elon is another example of this, but he didn’t even finish his degree.

You can make the argument that yes they’re rich may not be all that smart but they can afford to pay smart people, and while that is true, the majority of these narcissists is that they believe only they have all the answers.

Yes they’re rich as hell, no they’re not Einstein. You’re right to say not to underestimate though

[–] Anticorp 1 points 5 days ago

Your last point is the one I was trying to convey. Don't underestimate them. They have enormous staffs to lean upon for expert opinions on most subjects, and the resources to do whatever is recommended.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

Get in zuck we'll open it when you're dead

[–] Diplomjodler3 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Zerohedge is not a news outlet. Posting this as "news" is as dumb as it is counterproductive.

[–] pyre 3 points 6 days ago

I know the evil corp tried to improve the graphics engine and wanted to show off more natural looking character models so they gave him this new skin on the last battlepass but I still think it's in the uncanny valley.
