Game of the year nomination: Balatro!
Full game is 10 bucks, but so worth it!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playstack.balatro.android
Best money I've ever spent on an app. When you break down how much time I've spent playing it, $10 is a steal.
Be careful if you value your time
Shattered Pixel Dungeon. It's free to play with no ads but I would encourage you to support the creator (who is also the mod of the lemmy instance) if you can.
It's a rouge like dungeon crawl. You're going to die and start over a lot, but totally worth it when you win.
It's one of the few roguelikes that actually holds pretty close to the core of Rogue, too - completely turn-based, procedurally generated, with an emphasis on what you find rather than level-up abilities. Great game.
I should try the Cleric soon, I've just got so many other games rn...
Cleric isn't out yet but I'm looking forward to trying it.
Seconded
I second Bloons td 6 and balatro. I would also add vampire survivors.
Bloons TD 6 is crazy good
Someone previously shared this site (darkpatterns.games) that reviews and filters games based on whether they have predatory ads or gameplay mechanics. Useful resource.
Some of my top picks:
- Slice and Dice: Rougelike dice based rpg with lots of replayability
- Peglin: Rougelike pinballish game
- Bad North: Real-time strategy game that plays well on the phone
- Baba is you: Amazing puzzle game
All but slice and dice have pc versions (to my knowledge), but all of them play perfectly on the phone and are easy to play a round or two at a time.
Agreed on Slice and Dice.
My recommendations:

how many of these are exclusive to mobile? setting a lot of games I could get on a better platform
None - all are multi-platform.
That's a lot of games! (But no descriptions 🥲) Any turnbased games, especially tactic/strategic ones in there?
Deep Down Dungeons, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Quest of Dungeons and Tyrant's Blessing are turb-based RPGs, and Tyrant's Blessing specifically is a tactical RPG.
Thanks! That tyrants thing looks like it'd float my boat!
Lumino City is a beautiful point and click type game that I'm really enjoying. Paid. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.noodlecake.luminocity
Dredge is getting a mobile release in February
i recommend Vector Pinball for simple fun, and Luanti (formerly Minetest) which has many gamemodes, including classical Minecraft experience. You can also just buy Minecraft.
Don't Starve: Pocket edition is a fun paid survival.
60 Seconds is also good.
Vector pinball looks like a good time waster. A paid game like that is PinOut.
