Summary

Rudy Giuliani has been ordered to appear in a New York City court on Thursday after missing a deadline to surrender assets, including his $5m apartment and valuable memorabilia, as part of a $148m defamation judgment.

The judgment stems from Giuliani’s false claims against Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, whom he accused of election fraud in 2020, leading to severe harassment for both women.

Lawyers for Freeman and Moss reported Giuliani’s apartment had been cleared out, with valuables moved to storage weeks ago. Giuliani’s team calls the demands intimidation tactics.

Giuliani (probably):

Trump won, so I thought I didn't have to pay for it anymore

(Sorry, Liz)

And he's right. I'm sure he's getting pardoned immediately. Just delay a few more months and it all goes away.

There is no justice in this country, just vindictive assholes who will smack the hammer down on anyone who dares to try to attempt justice.

Come on, Trump does not give a shit about Rudy Giuliani lol

He has nothing to offer anymore. He completely lost his status even with the fascists.

Can’t pardon him for state crimes

[–] NateNate60 17 points 1 week ago

This is a proceeding in federal court, but the president's pardon power doesn't extend to civil cases anyway. Or at least until the Supreme Court rules that it does.

At least there's that then, thanks for the correction!

It's not even a crime, it's a civil lawsuit they filed

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

Trump won't have the authority to pardon him for this. It's a local, civil case.

they better hurry up

And if you can't because they've been moved or "mysteriously misplaced," charge him for grand larceny and arrest him (IANAL so there is probably a better legal term for this).

I don't think that "sure, I stole from them, but I "lost" what I stole so we cool now," is a valid legal defense. But I'm not a disbarred lawyer, so I could be wrong.

They tried, but he keeps moving shit.

Would it be in bad taste to make an arcade racing game where Rudy has to outrun the courts until Daddy Trump appears like one punch man?

[–] Rice_Daddy 5 points 1 week ago

This would be a fun bit of justice porn after seeing Trump get away with everything.

I don't think you can pardon a civil case?

On the other hand, it might just be the first sign of the naked corruption we can expect to see more of.

He is home free now.
