A coalition of former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley voters pledged their support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid on Sunday, hours after President Joe Biden announced that he was dropping out of the race.

They chucked 1 million at ads for Nikki Haley, so there is something there.

Perhaps a bunch of wealthy never trumpers. What a mad world.

It is not affiliated with the Stand For America or Nikki Haley for President PACs.

We encourage her to select a moderate VP like @GovernorShapiro, @RoyCooperNC, or @GovAndyBeshear.

I mean...ok? They're not awful, and I guess they could probably pull some halfway decent middle-America folks who are queasy about Trump.

I'd still prefer someone further left, but tbh they could do worse.

Coop is a lefty that presents well as a moderate. We had the fortune of seeing him in person at Lovett or leave it in Asheville. It was a good show.

It’s just that the NC GOP has such a lock on this state that there’s very little his administration can do other than be a blocker for their most batshit ideas.

We don't have to be concerned about Kamala keeling over due to old age, so the VP can return to being unimportant again. A lefty vp would be great, but wouldn't make many waves

A bizarrely lefty veep would prevent a coup like a bizarrely theofascist Pence made us worry about Mr Trump's health ... Because look what happens if the prez is injured or sick. Right?

(Forever respect Mr pence for doing his duty on 6jan, despite going against party loyalty, which is very hard for Republicans to do, and halting the coup. And I'm sure had he gotten into that truck he'd've never been seen again)

A leftist VP can be a good foil for a president, a voice in an administration. And if Harris is nominated, wins, and a MAGAt nutter manages to murder her, then they would be president. A leftist that was vocally supportive of the Palestinian people could help reclaim some of the people that are threatening to sit out the election (...despite what a Trump win would end up meaning for them and the Palestinian people...).

I absolutely understand what you mean, but the only politician I'd trust to represent the Palestinian cause is Tlaib, and as I understand it Michigan isn't ready to give her up

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

I think that Rashida Tlaib would actually be a bit too much for some 'moderate' voters, unfortunately. Depressingly.

If the Democrats retain the Senate, though, it will be with the slimmest of margins. So the VP will probably be called on to break several ties. Yeah, the VP will vote for whatever the Democrats want, but they'll still get their name in the paper.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

For all the times Kamala had to cast a tiebreaker (33 times) she didn't get in the paper much.

This is good overall. I don't really follow the ins and outs of American politics, but from what I understand, Haley represents the moderate Republicans. She won Vermont and Washington DC in the primaries after all, states which are liberal but I imagine their conservatives are moderate nonetheless.

Great to see some common sense still injected into some people!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

Yeah this is a good outcome. The anyone but Trump right was rallying behind Haley, and as much as some of us dislike Kamalas DA job, being 'top cop' thats gonna play well with them.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Biden announced on Sunday afternoon in a letter that he will not be seeking a second term in this year's presidential election and threw his support behind Harris.

Craig Snyder, the group's director, told Newsweek in an email on Sunday afternoon that the organization believes Harris "is best suited to defeat Donald Trump in November."

Haley, the former South Carolina governor and United Nations (U.N.) ambassador running for the GOP ticket, ended her campaign in March following losses on Super Tuesday in competition with Trump who is the Republican Party's presidential nominee.

She also polled well among moderates and college-educated voters that don't support Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda.

Snyder told Newsweek that Haley's "disparaging comments" were "motivated by political rather than substantive concerns, and we are certain that those comments will not be a decisive factor in the ultimate voting decision of the Haley voters whose extraordinary act in the primaries of protest against Donald Trump as the leader of the Republican Party means they are going to give the Democratic nominee at the very least serious consideration in November."

In another social media post, the PAC expressed support for Harris and wrote "We welcome @KamalaHarris taking the torch that @JoeBiden passed to her."
